I didn't buy it, I got both games for my birthday (I didn't ask for them, I just wanted ps2 games).

Ah, I guess that is the issue with family / friends buying games they know nothing about. Still, didn't the boxes give you an indication of what they were about ? Say for me, I hate anything to do with Football. If someone bought me a game with characters kicking a ball on the box or there was an indication of it, I wouldn't even start it up, I'd just stick it on Ebay.

To be fair the drop minigame wasn't too bad, it was actually kind of fun. The KH2 minigame is horrendous though.
Well for some reason, i thought the drop game in Dream drop distance was a improvement cause it was shorter and easier to play, the gummi ship was more fleshed out of a game like a shooter. it was almost like gradius where you can customize the ship with weapons and such. But the gummi ship thing as a whole is unfitting for a rpg game to suddenly have to use it every time you want to visit new worlds. Least you don't need it after you visit the world.

How would you like it if you was playing final fantasy and every time you wanna use the ship to fly, you go into space like a star fox game mode just to get to where you wanna go? That would be very annoying after a while, this is a RPG game after all. Not that mini games are bad in rpg, some are questionable.

Final fantasy 7 has lots of mini games, the thing is, yes they are part of the story some times. But is just a simple game, not a completely new game. You could have just made a separate shooting game from the gummi ship, packaged it as a download title for $10 or something. It has enough effort put into it that it can be is own game that can be played for a few hours. The mini games in final fantasy 7 are just quick 2 minute games you play once during story, the bike game to escape midgar, the strategy battle game to protect fort condor, the snowboard mini game, sub marine mini game, chocobo racing, arena battles, etc. They are just simple games, not repeating game you have to play constantly between the actual game.

Diving mini game is short and simple, even though it happens often, is not as bad as a full scale shooting game inside of the actual game.

I thought the box art looked really cool and I heard great things about it which is why I decided to play it.

He said:

He never said he never was a fan of Disney (correct me if I'm wrong).
On my side, I went to play the KH games because I heard they were good, I didn't even know they were based on Disney/FF, I still enjoyed it nevertheless.

Look further up, he's said he's not a fan of Disney or Final Fantasy, which is why I asked.

Oh no, I do agree even the existence of the minigames inbetween travel is totally unnecessary and wrong. I just thought, as a minigame on it's own, the 3DS one was pretty good. The gumi ship one was so overwhelming to me, I didn't feel like learning how upgrades work and all that just to get where I want to go.

Ah I see, my bad.

I'd think so yeah. But it's so much easier stealing already made characters and stories for your games. *shrugs*
The game itself is not bad, combat is okay-ish but Jesus christ, why Disney characters?!
It manages to suck me in until that one cutscene which destroyed whole atmosphere. Seriously, these jokes aren't even funny...
*looks at quoted post again* Oh. Yeah it really is *shrugs*

Yeah, that is it. There doesn't need to be a consistent mini game through out the game, is probably why some people like the other games like Chain of memories, Re:coded 358/2 Days and Birth By sleep more. It didn't have that mini game you will see all the time. I find it funny they added such things in KH 1 and 2 but removed it from all mobile game systems. Even final fantasy 10 had less of a travel method. You just go to save point, go to cid's ship and then select a place to go and you're there. THAT IS IT!. No nonsense in between. How the heck we get to stuff like gummi ships, just put cid in the cockpit and fly me to where i wanna go like every other FF game :P

I'm in the same group that can't really get behind the games, I find the first one mostly boring and slow-paced, to the point where I've never finished the tutorial area thing because I'm just so bored.

But I suppose I can see why someone might like the series, I don't think they're inherently bad games, they just do nothing for me personally.

Yeah see that's the whole problem, every one of these games has a dragged out slow start that scares off a lot of newcomers. If you actually drag yourself through the long boring tutorial levels and beginning worlds, once you go to the second-third world, the fun begins, before it I don't think any KH play ever enjoyed the game.

I still cringe when people say zelda is an RPG :wtf:
Heh, forgive them. They just don't know better.

For everyone saying Kingdom Hearts is garbage, I fully understand that. Gameplay mechanics are not that good, story is a mess and Disney characters just have a supporting role at best.

..oh, and all characters are stupid as hell. Sorry KH fans. The story itself has gotten to a point, where not even the protagonists understand what they are saying.

"Blablabla ..darkness? Sleephearts!"

"Blablabla ..light! Vesselmyfriendsaremypower!"

As with common with all games starting with final fantasy 7 and onward. :P

Which is sad cause story is the important part of a RPG game in the first place, if story is bad, blame the only one person with his name on all of it. Tetsuya Nomura Combine that with the fact every game in the series plays completely different for no consistent gameplay makes for one recipe for a rpg game. :creep:
