Hardware Don't buy a new 3ds if you have the old one get a switch instead

Well yeah you might want to buy retro systems if you have not played them in a really long time or weren't born yet when the system was out and want to play some old games.

Also, if they want to play old games, the 3DS can do that. Some people just like to have the old console for the feel

Just because there is a newer console doesn't mean you should buy it. Maybe some people prefer the 3DS. There are a bunch of exclusive 3DS games that will never be ported to other system (like Stella Glow, for example).

Well i realized hacking doesn't matter it gets boring really quick and homebrew games won't be that good and cheating takes all the fun out of the game. Messing around with my 3ds is fun at first but then it starts to get boring.

Then start another project, don't go pooping on other people because you are bored. The Raspberry Pi is literally 35$, buy one of those. There's literally thousands of projects to be done with it.
Or buy a PSP. I am playing Silent Hill right now on my PSP. It's an amazing system for emulation and dirt cheap now.
Do something productive. You will be less bored

That is so depressing to read as a thread! so you actually choose a console just because of it being hacked? I always buy a handheld/console because of the actual enjoyment of it and to support the console itself, if its hacked in the future then its something to play at but I certainly do not ever choose a handheld/console on the intention of it being hacked, man you need hanging!!!

Secondly, you are comparing apples to oranges. Handhelds to home console (which has some portability but is still a home console at the end of the day). They both serve different niches. If I were to issue a PSA for people to get a PS Vita/ PS TV (as opposed to a Switch) instead of a N3DS if they already have the O3DS, it would be more valid that this. :\ Hell, I may as well ask people to not buy a tablet/phablet instead of a phone. Or a laptop over a tablet. You see where I am going with this?

Thirdly, a console's power is NOT everything. There are so many other factors to look into. Remember that time when the Vita (then dubbed NGP) was first teased? Some people were already writing the 3DS off because of specs. Look where we are now. On the same note, you can apply the same argument for the Vita vs PSP.

Fourthly, hacking on the Switch has just barely started. Who knows how long it will take. Oh and as mentioned in my second point, it serves a different demographic so it is more likely than not that it will take a loooooooong time before the Switch can do what someone would want to achieve from the 3DS.

That's actually just incorrect. No one aims to hack the earliest OS on the system because it just not beneficial in the long run. When an exploit is found, it takes weeks to even mouths of work to make it usable for the general public. From there they work on making it work with the current OS at the time.
