I just made this logo that aims to replace the current default homebrew logo. It uses the homebrew launcher theme so credits for the people who made the graphics :).

I'll pull request this to @Steveice10's buildtools if he agrees once I think there aren't more inprovements to be made (in less than a full day) (not releasing it right now because building a logo can take some time). If you want to share any improvements, feel free to do so. :D

EDIT: I won't be able to release it for a while, I have a terrible cold and need to stay in bed.

friolero... ;) buen trabajo amigo

we will wait your results

greetings

Improved the colors, added another bubble layer at a different speed (cannot record a video for now).

I am just wondering in general. Is there any legal trouble with creating assets from nintendoware for homebrew?
Yeah, it's a direct violation of the NDA you sign when you become a developer.

The major consequence is having you dev account suspended. Since the NDA is a legally binding contract, they could technically sue you for breach of contract, though I'm not aware of this having happened.

There are people like ryanrocks(?) who have committed much more serious violations of the NDA, and are far more deserving of Nintendo's wrath, who seemingly have escaped consequences.

I've never said I used nintendoware to make this or signed any NDA.

@PabloMK7 On your guide that you wrote months ago, you stated that you used the official SDK; although looks like you took that part out yesterday

Yes, it's against the NDA. IANAL, but it could get you in trouble.
It doesn't take much to see if it was made with the SDK anyway.
I don't think so, I've never signed any NDA
What I'm trying to say is that there is no way to say how I made this, a file format is the same if made with open source tools, hex editing, nintendoware, etc. At the end, it is just a format which the 3ds understands and has to be the same for any method, else, the 3ds won't recognize it. The Nintendo3ds logo problem was that it is patented. The same reasoning could be used to take down any homebrew using the current homebrew logo, as the file format has to be the same.

Anyway, it has been released now. Use at your own risk. :P

What is different between homeberw start up logo and custom logo
The previous Homebrew logo was just a plain black background, no animations and displayed the word "Homebrew" in small white letters. The custom logo has animations and is much more appealing.

@SylverReZ, I also heard one of the Prince of Persia games was so unfinished that it required the "24/7 online" drm so a puzzle could be done and the game could be finished. And that when the Ubisoft servers were closed the (cracked) game was impossible to finish or something like that
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
@Xdqwerty, That's extra scummy. Ubisoft nowadays ship out incomplete games like Skull and Bones which was being worked on for nearly a decade now.

I like that games can be fixed after the fact, hate that it's being abused via beta tests... And DLC... I was a 7800 owner back in the day and loved Impossible Mission, turns out I couldn't beat it because it was actually impossible lol

I never knew about it at the time but a fixed version was available but you had to mail in your broken copy lol
