Doesn't the 3DS have some supposed limit on SD card sizes which doesn't actually exist? I mean, we don't know if the Switch'll be like that too, but I thought it'd be worth a mention.
There isn't actually any difference between a SDHC slot and SDXC, just sdxc ones are certified to work with cards greater than 32gb. Both have a limit of 2TB, we where just lucky the 3ds recognised upto 256gb and I don't think any rich fuck boy has tried a 512gb sd on it yet. Since this is official sdxc certification from Nintendo it means 256gb is the real limit

aaaaaanyway, there is only few 256gb microsd card on sale right now
Well tbh for the wii u you need at least 500GB to get all the good games, so on the switch it will probably be around 1TB for all the good ones since it looks like it will last longer than 2 years XD. 256GB will last you at least the first year of titles. If the OS really doesn't recognise more than 256GB then we will need like 3-4 sd cards to play everything

well it will take a while, amazon still doesnt sell 256gb microsd card, so that mean only rich people can get one (i saw one on another site priced at 250$) so it will take a while to democratize it.
as for 512gb/1tb msd, it might take years before we see that.
sandisk just begon to talk about a new 1tb sd card, and its not released yet, so imagine microsd card that size...

Xbox One and PS4 come with 500GB or larger HDD and the switch has 32 GB microSD? Exceptional value!!!!!
You can't really put a HDD in a tablet thought. Also nintendo are allergic to moving parts since they've never made a console that has a HDD built in

You can't contradict your own source : http://bgr.com/2017/01/13/nintendo-switch-specs-official/ 2TB is the limit of SDXC, the OS won't recognise greater than 256gb without some hacking required

Yes it will, Nintendo just isn't going to say it supports cards that don't exist yet. Which is the same thing every single other company does.

@OP, Sorry everyone's joking, but in addition to what @KevinX8 said:
GPU: Rumoured to be 256 cores. Either Maxwell or Pascal, though dev units are Maxwell. It's normal for the device to be upgraded from the dev hardware at the last minute though. Games may be able to choose their own clock speed up to an unknown max. Appears to support antialiasing, but Nintendo games don't use it for some reason.
Built in display: Either 720p or 1080p. If 1080, games will either be run at 720 and upscaled, or be able to choose their own resolution. If 1080p, the web browser, home menu etc. will run at full resolution.
TV mode: games are rendered at 1080p
The Switch itself appears to have a built in fan. It's unknown whether the fan is only used when docked
The dock provides passive cooling, and may or may not provide extra power (As in electricity, not GPU power).
The leaked parents show that each joycon has an extra CPU. It's unclear whether this is only used for wireless and motion control, or if multiplayer games will be able to use it for extra processing power for each player.
The leaked parents also show an NFC reader in one (Not both) of the joycons. This would provide Amiibo support.

2.5" SSD/HDD would fit if their engineers spent more than a couple months designing it.

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

Innovation would have been being the first console to offer SSD not smaller wiimotes. I retract this statement as they couldn't even afford USB 3.0.

You wouldn't want to put a mechanical drive in a console that's meant to be at least partially portable, though.

Nintendo showed off amiibo support forgot to add that, also 512GB sd cards do exist. Portable display already confirmed 720p no need to speculate

Is there a reason USB HDDs aren't supported when they are far cheaper per GB than SD cards? I fail to see the logic. With a 256 GB micro SDXC card, the price is astronomical.

I rather enjoy a life of taking it easy. I haven't reached that life yet though.
