Is it possible to relocate the 3ds/freeshop folder? I'd rather have it out of the 3ds folder and keep it all in one location instead of having two folders /freeshop and /3ds/freeshop

Thanks!

I have an interesting error with Freeshop. I used it to install my games, and now my home menu isn't showing the games I legit purchased from the eshop. However, my legit games are still there, and can be pulled up and launched by going to the titles section in FBI or by searching the game and pushing the play icon in Freeshop. Any idea how to fix this?

Lol, have you reached the 300 limit? I think when there are more than 300 titles installed they start becoming invisible on home menu.

Hmm, that might be it, as I ended up going with a 128 gig SD card and was injecting a lot of games in for SNES and GBA. Ah well, I can still launch via FBI so not a major issue.

I'm working on taking information from this thread and putting it on the site so it's easier to access.

Let me know if anything isn't clear in the install and initial setup instructions: https://freeshop.pw/get-started/

I'll continue to add more stuff to explain all of the configuration options and such. And I'll also need to update the FAQs. I'll probably post news on the frontpage too (with rss feed and all). Any news posts I make in this thread get buried lol.

Freeshop itself does neither allow nor encourage piracy on its own. It's completely up to you how you use it. If you decide to download illegally acquired keys, then you are to blame and not the developer of freeshop.

I initially put it in /3ds/data/ with the plan of modifying HBL to load apps from /3ds/apps/ but I never got to it. Oh well, I'm just sick of all the homebrew that makes new directories in the root of SD.
Please continue with that. I'm also fucking annoyed by these 5000 directorys and files...

Hi Guys.

Quick Question.I own a physical copy of Pokemon Moon. I know its piracy if i get a copy from freeshop without a legal key and I´ve read cartridges got headers an digital copy don´t . So in theory if i get a copy from freeshop would i get banned if i go only ingame or with the pokebank?

I know legally Nintendo can issue a ban just for running Luma+A9LH if they could detect it.

You will not be banned for using a digital copy nor will/can you be banned for running Luma+A9LH.

Eventhough the New 3DS XL is more powerful, I still feel like the DS Lite was a more polished system. It's a real shame that it never got an XL variant keeping the GBA slot. You'd have to go on AliExpress and buy an ML shell to give a DS phat the unofficial "DS Lite" treatment, and that's the best we'll ever get I'm afraid.

The phat model had amazingly loud speakers tho.

@Jayro, I don't see whats so special about the DS ML, its just a DS lite in a phat shell. At least the phat model had louder speakers, whereas the lite has a much better screen.

They probably said "Hey, why not we combine the two together and make a 'new' DS to sell".
  • Veho @ Veho:
It's a DS Lite in a slightly bigger DS Lite shell.

    It's not a Nintendo / iQue official product, it's a 3rd party custom.

Nothing special about it other than it's more comfortable than the Lite
    for people with beefy hands.

@SylverReZ if you could find a v5 DS ML you would have the best of both worlds since the v5 units had the same backlight brightness levels as the DS Lite unlockable with flashme

    but that's a long shot

i think only the red mario kart edition phat was v5

A woman with no arms and no legs was sitting on a beach. A man comes along and the woman says, "I've never been hugged before." So the man feels bad and hugs her. She says "Well i've also never been kissed before." So he gives her a kiss on the cheek. She says "Well I've also never been fucked before." So the man picks her up, and throws her in the ocean and says "Now you're fucked."

anyways, we need to re-normalize physical media

if i didn't want my games to be permanent, then i'd rent them

Agreed, that why I try to buy all my games on disc, Xbox anyways. Switch games (which I pirate tbh) don't matter much, I stay offline 24/7 anyways.
  • AncientBoi @ AncientBoi:
    I don't pirate them, I Use Them :mellow:. Like I do @BigOnYa 's couch :tpi::evil::rofl2:

@BakerMan - you can still "own" digital media, arguably easier and better than physical since you can make copies and backups, as much as you like.

    The issue is DRM
  • cearp @ cearp:
You can buy drm free games / music / ebooks, and if you keep backups of your data (like documents and family photos etc), then you shouldn't lose the game. but with a disk, your toddler could put it in the toaster and there goes your $60

    :rofl2:
  • cearp @ cearp:
still, I agree physical media is nice to have. just pointing out the issue is drm
