Ninty has a record of which console is a NNID attached to, you can remove it from the console nad put another one, but the one removed can only be used on that console. What calling Ninty does is unlinking the NNID from the console so it works on the SOurce 3DS

So just to be clear, I can use Godmode9 to remove the NNID both on Source and Target 3DS's if I want, and then I CAN create a new/login with existing NNID on those without problem? But the NNID that was removed just can't be used in any other console? What happens to the NNID that was already in the target 3DS?

Target console needs to not have a NNID to do the transfer

I know, but if it did have a NNID in it, what would happen to it?

Also for the guy above would he not need the 9.2 ropbin to be able to access HBL now that he's downgraded? Idk im just guessing.
If an NNID is linked to a console you can always format and sign back into it. A console can have multiple NNIDs linked to it.

Ok, here is my noob question.

I was originally running RX Tools and booting into my Emunand. I had a bunch of cias installed to it. A few days ago, I followed the 3dsguid to upgrade to Arm9Loader and Luma3ds. I did every single thing to a T, and followed every direction.

Now, all my old CIAs are gone, but they still exist in a folder in my Nintendo3DS Folder. The Nintendo3DS Folder now has 4 folders in it. A Private Folder, and 3 folders with the 32 or so characters. I have no problem reinstalling all my cias, but I would like to make sure I delete all the old cias that were installed from the RX Tools day.

Could I simply delete the folder that has all the cias installed on it but I cannot use on my 3ds? Would it mess anything up? I just want to either restore the cias I had previously, or delete the folder they are not taking up space.

I did all the steps of backing up tickets, reinstalling tickets. I thought while going through the process that this would restore all my cias that were installed. But I guess I was wrong. Any help is much appreciated. Sorry for such a noob question.

Formatting is safe then (to keep A9LH etc.), I assume?

Sorry for the dumb questions, this NNID thing is just a wee bit confusing since you can only have 1 active at a time, unlike with the Wii U. I'm just thinking of suggesting to my friends that I could mod their consoles with my 2DS and the DSiWare hack but I'm thinking what's the easiest way and whether I should want to sys transfer back to the source 3DS. I'm assuming the only reason you'd want to transfer back is to retain your NNID, in which the DSiWare title is purchased with so it can be re-used again?

Did you follow the Move EmuNAND section? Probably you are on sysNAND now which at some point in the past you unlinked from emuNAND, so that they wouldn't share the Nintendo 3DS folder. If you follow the Move EmuNAND section you'll regain access to your data.

Yes formatting is safe. And yes that's the usual reason but also because you just want your data back (if the system you are modding is not yours and/or you just want to keep using your console the way it was).

OK, I am sure I backed that up, going to look at the guide and see what I may have missed. I hope it is this simple, it could save a lot of time. I will be back for more help in a bit.

Ok, maybe I am silly, but I do not see a part on the 3dsguide talking about backing up Emunand. I see where it has you backup your Nand, and your SYSNAND, but I dont see where it told you to backup your EmuNand so I dont think I did it. Unless I am missing something. I appreciate any more help you can provide.

Is it possible to simply delete my folder that has the games that were installed to my EmuNAND?

Is this what I need to do or is it too late? This wasn't a part of the instructions that I saw.

You can do that. However, you can simply backup your EmuNAND from the SD, then restore it to SysNAND using Hourglass9. Make sure you have a valid SysNAND backup just in case, though.

does your sd shows less space than used on the pc (for exmaple a 8 GB SD shows 6 GB)

Do I not need to use the link from here? I can simply do it in hourglass without installing GodMode?

It seems to be the same. There doesn't appear to be any hidden partitions.

Try to open Partition Manager. Does it have anything except for the main partition? (Ex. Unpartitioned space)
