Is Windows 10 more stable than Windows 8?

I plan to upgrade my PC someday, for it goes through uncommon BSoDs, i'm thinking about doing the switch from Windows 8 to 10, as i heard games and other programs are starting to get their compatibilities working with the OS.
Of course, with Windows 10 being the last Windows OS, and being designed and constantly updated by the most highest of all tech experts in the world, it's gotta be more stable than Windows 8 right? So which OS would be considered most stable at this point? 8 or 10?

Well, the only one I've used in Windows 10, I have only used windows 8 at school. I would guess that Windows 10 is probably the more stable but you would have to ask somebody who used both. I used Windows 7 and only used Windows 10 for a week and reverted back because of my terrible hardware. If you find it's un-stable you could always revert back to 8 (I think it gives you a month or so to make the switch?).

i personally use win 10 over win8 because there is a lot of updates and regular maintenance and it has more features

Yes. Generally windows 8 is not known for being overly stable. If there's things you don't like about 10 (like some UI changes) you can change them with tweaks, classicshell, glass8, etc. It's also better when it comes to gaming performance too. Only issue i've had with it vaguely recently is the securom/safedisc issue, but i disabled that blockage

I've used 7,8 and 10. And my computer is mildly good. I think is more stable, not only that bu everything is better organized and less messy than W8

I haven't used 8 that much, but my family's PC uses 10 and from what I've seen, 10 is actually pretty stable, on par with 7 (at least in the years I've used it, not too many issues(.

I feel that W10 is more stable than 8. Not sure about when compared to 7 though, 7 always felt completely stable for me anyway.

Personally I prefer w10.

Linux > 10 > 7 > 8.1 > Everything else > Vista > 8

In terms of stability, they're both 99% solid.
In literally every other case, 10 > 8. Especially if you mean the original 8 and not 8.1.

If your getting BSOD's these days it's not a problem with Windows, you either have some hardware with bad drivers, bad ram or possibly some failing hardware. You really need to write the BSOD message down and research as to why your getting it.

Windows from Vista to 10 has been extremely stable and can even recover from your GPU driver stopping responding, which historically would BSOD earlier versions of Windows such as XP.

People above who are posting comments such as "Generally windows 8 is not known for being overly stable" are confusing stable with people linking or disliking that version of Windows. Many people disliked Windows 8, just like they disliked Vista, however all versions of Windows still supported by Microsoft are generally very stable unless you have hardware problems.

when was the last time any windows was unstable?
its just a matter of preference, and windows 10 is not going to fix your problem :/
the prosedure of reinstalling the os and drivers might though.

The only thing that I have disliked about Windows 10, or rather, Microsoft policy, is that they are getting kinda restrictive with every update, at first there were some very unnoticeable things like changing folder names (from whatever I put back to "Saved Games" in the User directory) and resetting a few custom made registry edits every big update (Guess this is unavoidable tho), but getting annoying with the new "Inactive hours" Windows 10 Anniversary Edition brings, that forces you to set a time range when your computer is not used for Windows to forcefully restart to install updates. Even disabling the reboot task in Schedules Task will eventually be enabled by Windows itself unless you manually disable Windows permission to do so.

Aside from that, using Windows 10 has been perfectly fine so far. But that comes from a guy who is slightly biased that higher number means better. ('cept for Vista of course).

I use windows 10.
Aside of forced updates, everything has been stable for me. Although... sometimes... in My PC appears random disks that I don't have. Like for instance, C:, RECOVERY:, SystemZ: DiskD:
I'm guessing that its more like a bug or something...

And if you've been wondering if Windows 10 is "exploitable" (like, free paid apps), then yes. you can still do that.

Also, I heard from a fellow Windows user, that he used windows 8 and that it was buggy as hell.
The first time I tried Windows 10 was like 3 months ago, and it WAS buggy as duck too. But since a certain update 2 monthst ago, it has been fixed... at least its not as annoying as it was before. So give it a try ONCE you have your OS completely updated.

What are you basing your experience on? one PC, a couple of PC's?

I work in IT and have deployed Windows 8 and Windows 10 to 100's of PC's, if it was unstable i wouldn't have deployed either of them as i certainly don't do things to make my life more difficult in my day job.

As i mentioned it's all down to the hardware / drivers. Vista as an OS is stable, however many hardware manufacturers did a bad job at writing new drivers, or not bothering to at all, leaving many older devices incompatible or only partially compatible.

Vista also got a bad reputation as places like PC world were selling PC's with 512mb of ram and old Celeron processors running Vista, loaded with crap, meaning many average people who didn't know better unfortunately purchased PC's not really capable of running Vista, but would have run XP perfectly fine.

People might not have liked Vista or Windows 8, however from a stability point of view both were solid and introduced good under the hood features not present in the version of Windows which came before them.

Well, it depends what you call 'stable' as in, it crashes, viruses, etc.
And I had a Windows 8.1 PC, it was a laptop, and it worked pretty good. I decided to update the laptop only to Windows 10, to see how it is like. I had encountered some bad things after updating, like how the GUI was bigger than usual, and it was a tad slower, but overall it worked great in the after installation environment.
But it's a different story in a different department, such as forcing updates can be a problem, the shit Microsoft injects into it that you agree to, and kinda worse of all, it'll be one of the most targeted OS because it is the latest, therefore most likely going to get some unsuspecting eyes.

Overall, if you think you can cope with Microsoft, sacrifice WIFI strength, get a great anti virus and know what you want to do on Windows 10, I'd say go for it.
