Either DSiWareHax downgrade (requires a second, hacked console), or a hardmod downgrade (this requires equipment and soldering experience, but you can send it to someone to do it for you).

https://github.com/Plailect/Guide/wiki/Firmware-Downgrade

What about Oot3dhax? Can't it let me downgrade with a powersave? I saw it somewhere....

Anyways i think i'd go for Dsiwarehax, cuz i got another already hacked 3ds consoles ^^

But i want to know what's up with the oot3dhax

No, it's only an entrypoint, which works in userland.
You need a kernel exploit to downgrade, which there are only two methods of doing that

No, what you saw was outdated. You need another 3DS running some kind of CFW to be able to successfully attempt the DSiWarehax method of downgrading.

Hardmod isn't really a kernel exploit

OoThax is just a way of getting homebrew, same as browserhax, menuhax, stickerhax etc etc. It's definitely a bit confusing for newbies that they're all named "-hax"!

Hardmod isn't really a kernel exploit
It's a hardware exploit that basically injects an exploitable kernel.
I mean it onto itself is not a kernel exploit, but it allows the kernel to be exploited.

Oh, ok , i think i'll go with Dsihax

But, there says that it assumes i have arm9loaderhax, but... what if i don't? i just have an ordinary hacked console with 11.0 emunand and 9.2 sysnand , can i still do that with this?
Yes. The process involves system transferring a console with hacked dsiware so you can use said hacked dsiware on the stock console to back up and restore the NAND.

You need another system of the same make with A9LH pre-installed for the DSi downgrade.

You can do it using an emuNAND. However the guide got updated recently, and it's now super dooper easy to install a9lh. Takes about 40min for most people even newbies, 2hrs max if you're really slow.

I don't know who to believe D:
Need mandatory arm9loaderhax?
Or just the console running cfw
Turns out I was wrong, the guide updated.
Just follow the guide and you will be fine.

You won't. Just A9LH it, you'll be fine. The process is a lot safer now.

Well, i sincerely don't know where to start , like, i already have my emunand and all of these thing setted up, and i know a9lhax involves downgrading back to 2.1 and i don't know if it has to be sysnand or emunand or things like that, i know i'll screw it up because i'm dumb XD, if this dsiwarehax works even without this i'll just do it without that :P and if i manage to downgrade the n3ds i think i'll try to install a9lhax from zero

Thank you all for the support guys! :D <3

Everything's done in sysNAND, you won't be booting emuNAND at all during the guide.

Here's a quick summary of the steps:

1. Make sure you can get to Decrypt9 - this just means having Decrypt9 in your 3ds folder, and getting to it from the homebrew menu from menuhax
2. Copy the ctr transfer files to your SD card, and choose the option in Decrypt9 to do the ctr transfer (NAND backup happens during this step)
3. Copy the a9lh files to your sd card, and go to the web address that installs a9lh.
4. Restore your NAND backup - optionally restore your emuNAND as sysNAND (you'll be doing this)

Done. I promise it's really easy.

Hmm.. i can try this...

But, after all, what are the BIG /NOTICEABLE benefits from a9lhx?
Why people say it is that great XD

@Jayro, I don't see whats so special about the DS ML, its just a DS lite in a phat shell. At least the phat model had louder speakers, whereas the lite has a much better screen.

@SylverReZ if you could find a v5 DS ML you would have the best of both worlds since the v5 units had the same backlight brightness levels as the DS Lite unlockable with flashme

A woman with no arms and no legs was sitting on a beach. A man comes along and the woman says, "I've never been hugged before." So the man feels bad and hugs her. She says "Well i've also never been kissed before." So he gives her a kiss on the cheek. She says "Well I've also never been fucked before." So the man picks her up, and throws her in the ocean and says "Now you're fucked."

@BakerMan - you can still "own" digital media, arguably easier and better than physical since you can make copies and backups, as much as you like.

    The issue is DRM
  • cearp @ cearp:
You can buy drm free games / music / ebooks, and if you keep backups of your data (like documents and family photos etc), then you shouldn't lose the game. but with a disk, your toddler could put it in the toaster and there goes your $60

    :rofl2:

still, I agree physical media is nice to have. just pointing out the issue is drm
