Sure will, but first I'll make sure I've got all the needed files so I won't have to worry about downloading them later (qBittorrent is up and seeding the files btw ;) )

Let's see.. 2.1.0-4U_ctrtransfer_o3ds.zip (doesn't matter if I've got New instead of Old?), aeskeydb, data_input_v2, decrypt9WIP, DspDump, FBI (3dsx and cia), hblauncher_loader_v1.2, hourglass9-20160823, Luma3DSv6.1, lumaupdater-1.4.1, noscreeninit, safea9lhinstallerv2.0.3.7, starter.zip, universal-injector-generator-master. Holy wow, that's a long list of stuff to get! Sure hope I ain't missing something
Honestly I did the same, but organized it into what is needed in each step, and it's done so exactly how it needs to be on the SD card.

It makes it a breeze to just drag and drop everything before each step, and makes doing this on multiple consoles a breeze. The only thing I have to set up each time is the initial otherapp.bin for freakyhax depending on what the console initially is for downgrading to 9.2. But after that even the otherapp.bin is already set up in these folders because I know it will be at 9.2 once downgraded.

That's more or less what I'm doing right now, just organizing all the files into separate folders to go accordingly with the guide. Not sure if out of being organized, paranoid and afraid I might break something or both.

I'm still not 100% sure what you needed confirmation on. However, if your only cart is FF Explorers, which is 9.9, you are not in a safe place. If you see on Plailect's guide, he notes that if you upgrade your FW using a game cart with 9.9 on it, you will lose the browser and thus you can't use browserhax as your entrypoint. You'd need ninjahax/alternative. https://github.com/Plailect/Guide/wiki/Cart-Update

So for your case, you could upgrade from 1.0->9.9 if you have another hack method (Cubic Ninja, Ocarina of Time, FreakyForms, etc, etc, etc) to then downgrade to 9.2. You pretty much a terrible game cart to use with this.

The reason is that for 1.0.0-0E carts you don't have a browser to start with so going to 9.9+ with cart and getting a dummy browser wouldn't hurt if it was verified that you could continue from that point.
But I will not be the first to verify that I can continue from that point with my normal freakyhax - I thought I had a Monster Hunter U cart available but it was a MH4 with 8.1 fw....

So instead I'm getting an R4i clone which will get me into MSET and be useful for all DS games.

(Incintentally nintendo decided to clear out the old stock of 1.0.0-0E consoles here with OOT bundled, perhaps the intention really was that you should use that backdoor :) )

Whoa, I'm doing exactly the same thing. I still keep the downloaded archives tho, so I could keep track if the files are outdated already.

I'll be obtaining a 1.1.0-0E 3DS later after work, I'll try to update it directly to 9.2.0-0E. I have Gardening Mama Forest Friends EU Cart and It can update directly to 9.2.0, if alternative entrypoints wouldn't work (which I doubt) then I'm screwed. I'll report back later.

EDIT: Can confirm, 1.1.0-0E updated via game cart to 9.2.0-0E, accessed decrypt9 via stickerhax. Now downgrading to 2.1.0 :)

I am still having the gift wrapping bug, as in everytime i switch on my o3ds either in luma mode or gw emunand i have to unwrap everything again. Also whenever i change themes they do not stick.

Someone mentioned menuhax could be causing it but i have never used menuhax afaik.

I already formatted my sysnand once yesterday and it didnt cure the problem, i still have the giftwrap and themes do not stick after i install them.
You might have installed menuhax. Uninstall it first, reboot, apply your changes to themes and unwrap gifts, then reinstall menuhax.

EDIT: ninja'd.

Another update:

Just finished installing a9lh to my newly obtained 3ds.

Installation proccess: v1.1.0-0E updated to v9.2.0-0E via game cart, downgraded to v2.1.0-0E via CTRNAND, installed a9lh & shadownand, restored 9.2.0-0E and updated to 11.0.0-33E.

Installation time: 1hr20mins

Unlike before where it takes 3hrs the least. Haha now my newly obtained 3ds is already ready for shipping. :)

Alright, I had some sleep and I'm ready to dive into this now. So, 9.2 New 3DS, should I start by turning the wifi on, then using Menuhax (which boots to ctrbootmanager) to try and get to Decrypt9? Thanks

Do you have A9LH installed? This usually means A9LH is present but either cannot find the SD card or arm9loaderhax.bin is missing.

Yes that's what happened - the format deletes everything on your SD card. You need to copy arm9loaderhax.bin back to your SD card (and hopefully the rest of the files that you made a backup of before the format...?)

I only experience blue light flashes once and turns off when I forgot to restore emuNAND backup to sysNAND. As for your present issue, you probably formatted your sysnand and emunand once. I think the previous guide mentioned something about a system where if both sysnand and emunand share the same amount of format it will remain the link.
