hi gbatemp

Thanks for all the useful info. So I'm new to the vita scene having recently purchased a vita TV ( firmware 3.2) and an oled vita ( firmware 3.6). My question is simple. If I install the hacks on the vita TV and have vita TV and vita linked to same Sony account, then will the installed hacked applications work on my oled vita? Seems to me like the hacks are actually installed to the memory card. Any clarification on this would be appreciated

Thanks

The hacks are installed to the memory card, sure, but either way you need to run HENkaku to launch any native Vita apps. Past that, the ePSP kexploits rely on unpatched versions of the psp emulator firmware, which is updated with the Vita. If you transfer a PSP game from your PSTV hoping to have it work on the higher firmware Vita, then you're out of luck. If you choose to update your Vita, then sure, you can send the PSP game compatible with your PSTV over, but that's it, and now you've burned your chance to run HENkaku on your Vita. Either way, it's pointless. Either we'll see a new kexploit for 3.60 arrive, or we'll see team Molecule add higher level privileges to their shell app to let us downgrade the ePSP firmware and disable the whitelist. You need HENkaku to do something like that either way, so I'd advise against updating.

Okay so if I install the hacks and psp cfw on the memory card and use the same memory card on vita(3.6) then it should all be there and work on vita?

Thanks for the reply. Lol oled vita is still on 3.6 so I'm sure henkaku still works. Haven't done the 3.61 update yet

Absolutely not. The emulated PSP firmware is not stored on the memory card, only the game and the hacked save. Even if you use the same memory card to install a hacked game to your PSTV, and then move that card to your Vita, it will not work. Everything depends on the PS Vita or PSTV's installed firmware, as the PSP emulator firmware is part of the firmware that's stored on the internal eMMC NAND flash, and cannot be modified at this time. Just wait it out for now, and you'll see a way to patch the firmware come out soon enough.

Is it piracy if it was released for free? Not in my opinion, but I also think it's not piracy if buying it isn't owning it, and it's not piracy if you can't buy it from the original creators anymore.
