To unpack a mod first open the smash bros that sm4sh explorer uses. Put the patch folder of smash in another folder, then paste the patch folder of the mod pack in and sm4sh explorer will think it is the patch. Opeing the program won't show edited files in green but you can still extract what you want from t.

This sounds like a great idea. I just tried it but it did not work. Unless I didn't follow along correctly. I opened Sm4shexplorer with the original game files, then I put that patch folder in a different spot and placed the modded folder inside yet it still won't let me extract it. UNLESS the latest version was updated to read this. Maybe I need a lower version?

Well i guess try to copy the normal patch back but make sure it is backed up and then merge it with the modded patch folder.

EDIT: Now I'm really confused. Sm4sh explorer used sdcafiine to add my mod automatically, it added 0 files, and it still doesn't work

The name for the songs are ok > snd_bng_{song_name}.nus3bank
if there's the folder ID corresponding to the region of your game at the root of your SD, it will use SDCafiine, if it's wiiu/games/{code of sm4sh for loadiine}, then it will load loadiine.
During the first export to SD, it will generate a few csv files, so it order to see what was seen and sent you can open them (cache/csv)

Also, I'll say it again, even though it's one of the first thing the program tells you, if you modify anything in the source folder in order to hack your way into extracting an existing mod, don't complain if you have issues in the future extracting anything. This is not supported and will not be supported.
If you absolutely want the mods, it's better to ask the creator to share the unpacked mod. As a last option, if you have the packed file AND the resource file associated with it, you can extract it with dtlsextractor.

The resource file(s) tell the program where is what, without it you can't know what file is where. And with a wrong one the wrong information is given, resulting in many errors that some people have.

When you have a valid source (all the game file and patch) you can extract all the files (at least tested in US), except one in the spanish localization if I remember well.

Does having smash installed on a USB, not the main Wii U console cause problems?

EDIT:Guys I've done it! I'm a complete scrub, I didn't know you had to use loadiine.ovh again when the SD card is in the wii u with the mods. Oh and having it installed on a USB doesn't cause problems (at least for me)

Thanks for all the help! I will help in return in any way I can, I have free time, but I've only just got the hang of this so my knowledge is limited.

Wouldn't that just replace the modded patch though?
nope. Paste the modded patch into the normal patch and it should work fine.

From what i've tested however idk why but it won't extract extra costumes or anything additional ie more captain falcon skins, and crashes after tying to do so skipping the rest. I've even tested my own exported patch.

Err...
That's more a 3DS question than a WIi U question.

Okay I'm giving it a try now. I'll post an update soon if it works.
nope. Paste the modded patch into the normal patch and it should work fine.

Doesn't work because the param values for the mod pack need to be edited and you have no access to that and combining the patches causes the game to freeze because things don't match up. Pretty much the modded patch replaced the normal patch's param values and files. Though I could edit, I wouldn't know what to edit because of those unknown value of the mod pack. It was a good idea though. Solved half of my problem.

For param values since those aren't additional do this.
Get
https://github.com/Sammi-Husky/Sm4sh-Tools/releases/tag/DTLS_v1.2.2

Then extract to te inside of the modded patch. Open folder with cmd (shift then right click folder)

Type or CTRL + V

dtls resource(us_en)

Though keep in mind this method only works if you have the resource files.

Thank you so much for the help. My problem is now that apparently it cannot find the resource(us_en). Do I need the folder or just the file? Here is what my stuff looks like.

Extract the folder so the exe is in the patch folder.
Got it. Thank you. What do I do after that? (sorry if I sound so uninformed)
The CMD runs fine but nothing shows up.

...I just realized you were the guy who I've been trying to contact on "a certain site". I was trying to get your edit files to work with mods. Sorry if I sounded so impatient on that site if you saw the comments. Really was working on this for hours per day.

So I have been having issues with the loading time of CSP's on the CSS screen. Apparently in 0.07.1 the amount of time that it takes to load CSP's is EXTREMELY noticeable to the point where it is almost a full minute. However, I switched back to 0.07 and now my CSP's load 100% faster. Whatever you left in 0.07, please put it back into 0.07.1.

I set python 2.7.12 (Does the .12 vs .11 really matter?) as the default for .py files. The 6 files (including the readme) are in the same folder as Sm4shExplorer. The script recognizes which characters I do and don't have skins for, the issue is simply that it's not editing the files (date modified did not change).

I'll upload my workspace folder as soon as I can, but my internet speed at my current location is very slow...

EDIT: Workspace folder: https://mega.nz/#!FMJy2DZI!UlFC13MNVS7-AFDB682GJjuQzkDw9KEWAnfiQzb0DcE
Anyone able to help? I'm just trying to run the texture ID fix script... it runs and recognizes which characters I have skins for (and takes longer for characters with more skins), but the files aren't actually edited. No errors occur.

I've been having trouble with obtaining the music files so that sm4shmusic will run correctly. The dt00, dt01, and ls files are all located in the content folder, but each time I run sm4shexplorer it tells me to copy every single music file from the game to the content\sound\bgm folder. The folder already has all of the downloadable songs, from rhythm heaven's blue birds to mewtwo's victory theme and even the bayonetta songs. How can I solve this problem?
