Dead Island 2 removed from Steam

dead-island-2.png

After a rocky and confused development, the unreleased game Dead Island 2 no longer appears on the Steam Store. Last year, the game was delayed significantly, and Deep Silver dropped its previous developer. This is certainly not a good sign for anyone hopeful about the future of the game as all signs point to its cancellation, though Deep Silver has not yet said anything officially about the status of the game.

I loved played #1 but for all the wrong reasons.
Take a car, ram a Thug, knock it over, break its legs and just punch it until you max out on levels.
There was something fun about hitting lvl 50 in the prologue.
At least on stage 1. After that the game seemed to turn to trash.

I beat Dead Island 1, thought it was pretty good, underrated
It wasn't the worst game that I've ever played, but it wasn't the game they made it out to be.
It wasn't the emotional zombie horror game, it was just an ok FPSRPG with zombies. Then the spin-off just took the shit they made and added cel shaded coating of shit to it.

Was probably gonna end up being another steaming pile of poo anyway.
If there any dead island fans here I suggest to go play dying light (and the expansion) instead, it is superior in every way to dead island and its the game dead island wished it could be.

A game being bad and there being a game that is better are two totally different things.

Don't even fucking compare Dying Light to Dead Island, Dead Island is clearly the superior game.
In fact, Dying Light had worse graphics than Dead Island.

Thankfully there is no one hopeful since that would require playing the first game, and it was utter trash.
Fuck you.

What are you on about?
dead island is a bad game, dying light is a good game made by the same exact developer of dead island but 4 years later
I believe Dead Island was decent, it had some unique mechanics with graphics that were pretty A+ for it's time, and to top it off a copy of Dead Island for the 360 only costs $4 dollars right now as compared to Dying Light which is $40 - $60. Just sayin'. :P

Calm down dude I enjoyed Dead Island with friends but let's be honest from a technological standpoint and well almost any other standpoint the game is pretty shit and that doesn't mean you can't like it

Unique mechanics? Weapon creation had been done even in Zombie games before then and I am not recalling anything else really. I enjoyed it well enough as a throwaway game/game that was not trying terribly hard but still worked enough to be half amusing but what was unique in it?

Never played riptide but I will stand by what I said about the Escape Dead Island game ( http://gbatemp.net/review/escape-dead-island.238/ ) -- genuinely had a good time there.

Would be upset to see Dead Island 2 not happen though. I kind of liked the footage we saw of it, though that was before the developer was canned.

yall im torn... ive been hacking away at tales of phantasia GBA (the USA version) and have so many documents of reverse engineering i've done
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I just found out that the EU version is better in literally every way, better sound quality, better lighting, and there's even a patch someone made to make the text look nicer
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
Do I restart now using what i've learned on the EU version since it's a better overall experience? or do I continue with the US version since that is what ive been using, and if someone decides to play my hack, it would most likely be that version?
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
@TwoSpikedHands, I'll preface this with the fact that I know nothing about the game, but, I think it depends on what your goals are. Are you trying to make a definitive version of the game? You may want to refocus your efforts on the EU version then. Or, are you trying to make a better US version? In which case, the only way to make a better US version is to keep on plugging away at that one ;)
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
I'm not familiar with the technicalities of the differences between the two versions, but I'm wondering if at least some of those differences are things that you could port over to the US version in your patch without having to include copyrighted assets from the EU version
