I know that I probably could, but Aureinand might not be kept on this N3DS once GW's a9lh payload comes out. The only reason that I would keep Aureinand after the next GW update is if GW Mode still has issues with DSiWare. Otherwise, I'm ditching Aureinand and just going CtrBootManager9 -> GW-a9lh.
What if they don't include the firm blocking?

I highly doubt that they'd leave out such an essential feature for product longevity. That's just foolish to think otherwise. If they do the unthinkable and fail to add firm blocking, then I guess I'd keep Aureinand around just for updating purposes.

Either way, it should be quite clear that GW mode is the default CFW for my N3DS. Aureinand is just a secondary CFW for this particular setup. My O3DS and 2DS are both set up using Aureinand as their only CFW.

I wouldn't put it past them. They have purposely bricked people's systems before. So them not blocking the firm isn't that far fetched. Hell I hate to think just how much damage they can do to a 3ds with the power they would have. Not saying not to use it just be cautious is all.

How did you minimise installation time?

It depends on how the 3ds is at first. If you have an emunand already set up you can start the guide at part 4.
If you have a 9.2 sysnand backup from before you don't need to make a new one.
You can use a second sd card so you don't have to back up your sd card and emunand.
If its a totally fresh 3ds with no games you only need to make a backup of the formatted emu/rednand as its not like you will lose anything by not having the original emu/rednand. Being able to skip some backups takes a lot of time off

You need to add an additional option

"i'm tired of seeing all this a9lh master race crap polluting my beloved forum and it's turning me off installing arm9loaderhax"

Before anyone calls me a menuhax peasant, I have one 3DS XL with a9lh installed already and another 2 XL's (one N3DS) with otp.bin's dumped waiting for gateway support :)

menuhax/a9lh wannabe peasant

I'm unable to reach eShop or NNID menu on system settings after doing the whole thing, is this normal? (maybe i have used a emunand_original with a NNID set).

And can I do a fresh start from the beginning by restoring my first backup of sysnand, and format it, if it's the case?

Ya know, I decided to install it, and CFW and rednand, the whole deal, knowing there was most likely a chance in the xx% that it was gonna brick my device. But I've spent $600 on the device, I've supported every indie dev I care too, and Nintendo just has enough of my money at this point, 3 3ds's in, don't they?

Plus I'm digging the same eShop hole with my Wii U.

I downgraded from 10.6 using OOThax, if anyone's curious.

Super scared of bricking since I have an eu 3ds and a us emunand. Tried a9lh but ended up with another eu emunand. If there's a guide on region changed a9lh I may give it another try.

If its emunand I would think its the same process as with menuhax. As the emunands are the same. I would back up ur region changed emunand and restore it to the emunand once ur done. When the guide tells you to inject emu/rednand into the sysnand don't, just restore ur 9.2 sysnand. When you boot the cfw make it use emunand(if using cakes) or don't select sysnand mode(aureinand).

Are you using emunand?

If so, boot up into sysnand. Update to 10.7. Open eshop and setup your NNID. Restore your sysnand using the previous back-up(optional).

Emunand eshop is now fixed. It broke when your formatted NANDS to unlink them.

The process can be reveresed is using sysnand instead of emunand.

I just don't see the point. I actually really like how the gateway works, and don't see the need to screw with stuff.

  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
Do I restart now using what i've learned on the EU version since it's a better overall experience? or do I continue with the US version since that is what ive been using, and if someone decides to play my hack, it would most likely be that version?
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
@TwoSpikedHands, I'll preface this with the fact that I know nothing about the game, but, I think it depends on what your goals are. Are you trying to make a definitive version of the game? You may want to refocus your efforts on the EU version then. Or, are you trying to make a better US version? In which case, the only way to make a better US version is to keep on plugging away at that one ;)
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
I'm not familiar with the technicalities of the differences between the two versions, but I'm wondering if at least some of those differences are things that you could port over to the US version in your patch without having to include copyrighted assets from the EU version
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
@Sicklyboy I am wanting to fully change the game and bend it to my will lol. I would like to eventually have the ability to add more characters, enemies, even have a completely different story if i wanted. I already have the ability to change the tilemaps in the US version, so I can basically make my own map and warp to it in game - so I'm pretty far into it!
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I really would like to make a hack that I would enjoy playing, and maybe other people would too. swapping to the EU version would also mean my US friends could not legally play it
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I am definitely considering porting over some of the EU features without using the actual ROM itself, tbh that would probably be the best way to go about it... but i'm sad that the voice acting is so.... not good on the US version. May not be a way around that though
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
    I appreciate the insight!
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
@TwoSpikedHands just switch, all the knowledge you learned still applies and most of the code and assets should be the same anyway
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
    and realistically they wouldn't

be able to play it legally anyway since they need a ROM and they probably don't have the means to dump it themselves
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
why the shit does the shitbox randomly insert newlines in my messages
  • Veho @ Veho:
It does that when I edit a post.
  • Veho @ Veho:
It inserts a newline in a random spot.
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
never had that i don't think
  • Karma177 @ Karma177:
do y'all think having an sd card that has a write speed of 700kb/s is a bad idea?
trying to restore emunand rn but it's taking ages... (also when I finished the first time hekate decided to delete all my fucking files )
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
@Karma177 that sd card is 100% faulty so yes, its a bad idea
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
even the slowest non-sdhc sd cards are a few MB/s
  • Karma177 @ Karma177:
@The Real Jdbye it hasn't given me any error trying to write things on it so I don't really think it's faulty (pasted 40/50gb+ folders and no write errors)
