@zerofalcon 's port of @Wiimpathy 's MAME 2000 core (1.0.2 MAME 2000 0.37 BETA 5 Dec 9 2015) +037b11 ROMs runs flawslesly great with the Retroarch 0.9.9.9 that IMO, is the most stable Retroarch for the Wii!
This core is compatible with ALL the MAME 037b11 romset. All the games runs without any notable, Voice Samples problems, frameskip or slowdown like the FBA core!
on the other hand, Mame2000 core need a fix for the glitchy graphics found in the letters and/or backgrounds found in some SEGA, TAITO, KONAMI games like aliens, Shinobi, Growl, Hook, XMEN... etc

Overall, MAME2000 core runs better and smoother than the FBA shit!!!

Thanks to @Wiimpathy and @zerofalcon

Been so long since I compiled and updated RA for Wii, lots of changes has been made since then, I'll start to compile everything from scratch, but for now, here's the mame2000 core up to date within RA 1.3.3, we can now use samples for games like donkey kong, berzerk, space invaders, etc, diagnostics are now enabled... If someone can test this core and check if everything works as expected.

Nice job man! :D
Tested here and looks like thats runs faster and more optimized
we got a "skip information and disclaimer" in the core option too

-still need to restart the retroarch before change the game to previne the black screen (dsi error)
-we still got glitchy text and backgrounds graphics in some drivers like: KONAMI (aliens, xmen, simpsons...), SEGA (Shinobi, Shadow Dancer, Alex Kidd, Outrun, Hang-On), TAITO (Growl, Nastar...), TECMO (Rygar, Ninja Gaiden...) :/

EDIT: Mortal Kombat II, (Ultimate) Mortal Kombat 3 and WWF Wrestlemania runs faster but still not perfect

@zerofalcon tested, but I don't find the diagnostics and I don't get how to use the samples. I put some samples zips in the samples folder on "sd:\retroarch\samples", them I tested Donkey Kong, QBert and New Rally X. No samples playing.

Create a "samples" folder where the rom files are stored.

@zerofalcon you could compile a mame2000 or a mame78 core thats support segasystem32 driver???
Thanks!

AFAIK, sega system 32 drivers are not fully supported with mame078, even using it on RA for other platforms, I can try to compile it and we can test if something works though.

Wow, that's sad :~~ I hope at least 1 or 2 games could run without problems. If you have the time, you can try add Violent Storm (by Konami)? I think its one of the best arcade beat n up.

I will try the samples very soon

Ooops, sorry, meant to post this in this thread...

Hi guys, nice to see these cores added to the Wii port :)

I currently have 1.0.0.2 on my Wii and was wondering what are the benefits of the MAME cores for this version of RA? I think there is a MAME 2000 and MAME 2003 core? I guess the 2000 core uses a 0.37b romset and the 2003 core uses 0.78?

What games run on either of these cores that do not run on FBA for 1.0.0.2? Sorry for all the questions, hopefully somebody can help :)

Many games that you can not run on finalburn you can run on this mame, and some run better like the ones who use samples. I remember I posted scans from my arcade game folders in a topic, but i don't remember what topic is :P

@Sicklyboy I am wanting to fully change the game and bend it to my will lol. I would like to eventually have the ability to add more characters, enemies, even have a completely different story if i wanted. I already have the ability to change the tilemaps in the US version, so I can basically make my own map and warp to it in game - so I'm pretty far into it!
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I really would like to make a hack that I would enjoy playing, and maybe other people would too. swapping to the EU version would also mean my US friends could not legally play it
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I am definitely considering porting over some of the EU features without using the actual ROM itself, tbh that would probably be the best way to go about it... but i'm sad that the voice acting is so.... not good on the US version. May not be a way around that though
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
    I appreciate the insight!
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
@TwoSpikedHands just switch, all the knowledge you learned still applies and most of the code and assets should be the same anyway
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
    and realistically they wouldn't

be able to play it legally anyway since they need a ROM and they probably don't have the means to dump it themselves

why the shit does the shitbox randomly insert newlines in my messages

It does that when I edit a post.
  • Veho @ Veho:
It inserts a newline in a random spot.

never had that i don't think

do y'all think having an sd card that has a write speed of 700kb/s is a bad idea?
trying to restore emunand rn but it's taking ages... (also when I finished the first time hekate decided to delete all my fucking files )
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
@Karma177 that sd card is 100% faulty so yes, its a bad idea
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
even the slowest non-sdhc sd cards are a few MB/s
  • Karma177 @ Karma177:
@The Real Jdbye it hasn't given me any error trying to write things on it so I don't really think it's faulty (pasted 40/50gb+ folders and no write errors)
