Hi GBAtemp. User @shutterbug2000 has found a way to merge two badge datas to essentially give yourself the badges of another player that has made their files publicly available. In this tutorial, we'll be using @Februarysn0w's badges (he/she has collected over 900 badges).

1. Open the target's BadgeMngFile.dat and yours in a hex editor of your choice. (HxD is preferred)

2. Copy from 0x0 to 0xc (ctrl+g "C"; hex checked) from the target and then pastewrite the strings onto your file.

3. CTRL+G to "3E8" and select everything starting from there to the end of the file and pastewrite it to yours once again. (Alternatively, you can copy from 0x1C to 0x20 from your file and then pastewrite the strings onto the target. Using this method, you can skip step 2 and 3. Then simply copy the target file to your 3DS)

4. Save the edited BadgeMngFile.dat.

5. Copy the modified BadgeMngFile.dat and the target's BadgeData.dat onto your SD card and import them.

EDIT: A lot of people don't know what to use. If you're a CFW user, use SaveDataFiler. If you're a *hax user, use ext_data dump tool or Sunshell by Rinnegatamante.

Yes, and yes but they point to the JPN app ID so they won't work on EUR/USA systems. Not to launch apps anyway, work as normal badges still.

I followed it closely and I still dont have 900 badges but my 200 only. The folders of the games show up but they are empty. Anyone knows how to fix that?

@Author - im just confuse about the title of this thread. it says "merge", so it means "combine" the unlocked badges am i right?
but after i finished the tutorial, it doesnt merge or combine, my data was "replaced" by febsnows data, cuz im searching for the badge that i unlocked before but it was not there...
so the title should be Replace not Merge...

and also, the title for each badge category turns into japanese language... is there any fix to turn it into english?
i hope it will also be possible to unlock each and every badges, like for example change some values on badgedata & madgemngdata by copying the patterns that unlocks febuarysnows data to data values that febuarysnow didnt unlocked yet. thanks...

it doesn't really combine the badges. it combines the data files that make your badges. and it's in japanese because februarysnow is using a japanese 3DS. and there's a limit of a thousand badges that can be shown at once in the badge bar. maybe there's a way to show more but AFAIK thousand is the limit for now.

all that said there is a way to combine your badges and februarysnows. open the badge arcade and play a game and get a new badge. that did it for me. this might be risky though.

as far as i know it doesn't matter. but i don't think its advisable to keep using badge arcade after you've done the badge merging. personally it hasn't done anything bad, even after getting a new badge. but it might cause a ban or something in the future perhaps? just guessing at that.

the backgrounds are paid AFAIK. maybe they'l show up available to download and use with CHMM2 one day.

which of februarysnows files did you use? 14D1_BadgeData+14D1_BadgeMngFile has some pokemon badges. about 26 or so ish

Works on my emuNAND fine. take the badge2data.dat, rename it badgedata.dat and copy it into the 14d1 folder in filer the filer folder on your sd card.

Then, get the matching badgedatamgr file, copy and paste the relevant bits into your own in your filer folder.

Then import that extdata with savedatafiler and bingo-bango, you're done. Bear in mind that these won't show up in 'collections' or whatever it's called (maybe that's a regional thing), but they'll be there when you place badges.

yea i got it yesterday mate, for some reason it wasn't working for me. but i figured it out eventually and got it working consistently now.
