I made some okami themes:

Made them before I realized homebrew wasn't working anymore due to new firmware so I never tested them on an actual device. That's why they aren't really formatted to be used yet, but if you put some work into it you can tidy them up and they'll be ready for use..

The recent unearthed original PlayStation inspired me to mock up a PlayStation theme based on the menu system. The original PlayStation doesn't feature any background music or sound effects (I used the default background music and sound effects) -- excluding the boot sounds. I wanted to stay true to the classic system, so I didn't have much to work with. I initially wanted to use the PlayStation 2's background music and menu sound effects, but then the nostalgia would be conflicting, I think. Let's save that for a real PlayStation 2 theme!

The original PlayStation's boot sequences are kind of long, so I obviously couldn't fit them into a sound effect (I tried anyway, but my 3DS kept bricking). I had to trim both sequences from about five seconds to about two. The first sequence plays when you open the 3DS and the other when you launch an app. It's pretty neat! The bottom screen is also themed after the menu system and an element was inspired by the official Dreamcast theme: The memory card and CD move as you cycle through the touch screen. It's subtle, but I think it works well!

Anyway!

This theme features:

  • SFX (PlayStation Boot Sequences)
  • Folders (PlayStation Menu Buttons)
It has gotten pretty quiet around here, so hopefully we'll start seeing more themes soon. :P

How do I change the sound effect when a game is chosen?
with YATA go to edit -> save CWAVs. this creates a bin file. There was an app floating around this thread that would extract/inject sound effects from that bin file. You have to use mono sound, a smaller bitrate, and normalize the .wav before converting to reduce noise.

Just have to find that app.

Edit: Here it is,
https://gbatemp.net/threads/release-custom-theme-cwavs.381132/
be sure to do a backup and what not. an improper cwav, unlike bgm, can cause a soft brick. i recommend testing on an emuNand.

you mean the "super mario coin sound"?
i think it's not possible yet
I just noticed that there is a discussion about this at the top of this very page. nice research <.<

So I just started making themes with YATA and I have some questions.
What is the "transparent colour" for folders and icon frames? And how come that they end up coloured differently than in the image?
And what is the image size for scrolling image on top screen? And for still image on bottom screen? And scrolling image in the bottom screen?
Why are scrolling modes charging with every theme? What is "invalid" scrolling mode? And what is the difference between flipbook tile / cyclic scrolling mode?
Sorry for asking this much, any answer would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Finally!

I bring you this NES Punch-Out! theme! It's based entirely on the training scene with Little Mac and Doc. It's recreated through the use of a panoramic top screen image and cycling touch screen. This actually took me some time to get just right and initially gave up when I tried making it a few weeks ago, but I finally got it working like I wanted it to. It's relatively simple, but there was a lot of trial and error that left me ultimately satisfied. Anyway!

This theme features:

  • SFX (NES Punch-Out!)
  • BGM (NES Punch-Out! - Training)
  • Folders (NES Punch Out! Title Screen)
As I mentioned, the top screen is a panoramic image of the city's skyline while the bottom image features Little Mac and Doc cycle training via scrolling! It's pretty neat! The folders are themed after the title screen and opening it makes a glove punch through it, just like when you press Start.

Can you reupload with dropbox or something? Mega and Mediafire don't work in my browser. Thanks, and amazing theme!

I haven't made any themes in a while. But this is one I use personally. I try to stay in gateway emunand as much as possible but here lately I use RXTools in sysnand as well. Since gba roms, dsiware, and ds flashcards require sysnand.

So I needed a better way to differentiate the two. If you guys have setup similar to mine you might find these themes useful.

SysNand: BGM is custom made sound effects. Also has a periodic voice warning that you are in sysnand.

EmuNand: BGM is the same sound effects without the verbal warning.

Edit: Note for noobs: Both themes are in the archive. place the folders 'SysNand' and 'EmuNand' in your 'Themes' folder.

I noticed there were a few J-POP themes on the Japanese eShop (Naturally), but what about K-POP?

I went ahead and threw together a simple SNSD theme based on my favorite member, Tiffany. It's a relatively simple theme with only a BGM and custom folders, but that's the trend with the J-POP themes, too. I have to admit that I think it's kind of...weird to have a theme with people in it. Somehow, I always thought these themes were reserved for video game and anime characters. Heh.

Anyway!

  • Folders (Themed after Tiffany's IGAB logo)

Nice! Could you make a SysNAND theme without the verbal warning? I don't use Gateway, but the SysNAND theme looks nice! Also, maybe making them in reverse color or other colors? But it's asking too much...

You could always take the bgm from emunand and use it in sysnand, no verbal warning.
