Hacking Some FAQ For The New 3.0 BETA Update

I heard some ppl report that they couldn't play online. I haven't tested myself yet tho. So I can't say for sure.

I was able to get online in emuNAND using my legit eShop copy of SSB4. Should be effectively similar to a .cia install. Don't have any .3dz to try yet.

still got a few questions:

1. regarding previous bought and downloaded eshop games i made a backup of my sd card on the pc.. after i formated emunand, i copied the files back but they won´t show up neither in gw mode nor classic mode.. do i have to download them again from the eshop or do i have to use a .cia instead? (thx, OtakuGamerz i will try that)
2. in emunand i can safely enter the eshop? also when a game asks me for an update when i start it, i think i can download them safe or?
3. so far all roms work that i´ve tested except for animal crossing and tomadachi life (both .3dz, though other .3dz work).. any idea why or what i have to do?

No problem, glad to help, as for question 2. Yes. the emuNAND is perfectly fine to update, BUT only the emuNAND.
EmuNAND is identifiable using the system settings, but there are tricks to identify it immediately.

1. Parental Settings on sysNAND only. If it asks for a password, don't update.
2. Change rows on sysNAND to either minimum or maximum. The row settings will remain independent of each other
3. Install a .cia theme to emuNAND and equip it. sysNAND will be plain and boring. emuNAND will remain fancy and themed.

No idea on the 3rd question sadly, hopefully someone has an answer.

thx for the quick answer i´ve updated the emunand already and changed the look of emunand so i can see if i´m in emu or sysnand.. but i´m not sure about downloading game updates in emunand.. i think there should be no problem entering the eshop and download game updates from there or? when i started mario & luigi it asked me for an game update (but i could skip that for now).. or do i have to use .cia´s for updating games? i think .cia dlc´s are working with retail cards, when they are the same region, too? i will try it with theathryhtm.. if i understand everything correctly, as long as i´m in emunand, i can´t mess anything up ^^

Good tips! I may need to get a theme or make one (since custom is possible) and do it so I don't forget which NAND i'm using. However booting to emuNAND will only allow the GW OSD to work anyway.

How can I update from 6.0 do 9.20? Does Gateway 3DS support 9.0 or 9.1 as well?

I'm not certain on every little fact, but as long as you remember that, you'll never have a brick.

However booting to emuNAND will only allow the GW OSD to work anyway.

The settings are linked. You must unlink your sysNAND and emuNAND. To do this the sysNAND must be formatted while your SD card is removed.
BUT The only problem is that I'm uncertain if the current firmware will force an update at the time of formatting. Once someone can clarify that detail we can fix this little issue.

I haven't test anything yet, just dumped my nand and games. but just clicking on boot gateway mode bring me on sysnand (according to setting menu) but multirom menu appears when I press select.

You are booting into gw mode.

There is sysNAND

EmuNAND

And gw Mode (runs off sysNAND unless emuNAND is present)

You can make an emunand partition by choosing [format emunand] in the gw menu. This will also format your SD card so back that stuff up.
I say install emunand, in case you install a bad .cia or some homebrew messes up your 3ds and you get bricked.

Only con is that you have to format sysNAND to completely separate them. So your NNID will only be on your emuNAND, rather than on both. You can update emunand to 9.4 as well which is great.

I haven't tested Ninjhax yet. It froze on e at 70% while loading a retail cart but that could be coincidence. I'll be looking into it later.

I can play and use my Pokemon ORAS save on my 2DS 9.2 AND on my 4.3 3DS XL without any problem.

Q. It says everywhere that you need 4.5+ for GW ULTRA, but what about those with 4.1/4.2/4.3/4.4, do they have to stay with GW OMEGA?

Nah, it seems to be just lazy wording.
