Smash down goes to both sides - did you try that?

I looked up on my Smash Booklet and it does show this method too which I'll try tomorrow as I can't be bothered to try it again today.

I absolutely refuse to play any stages on Easy difficulty and never have I played any games on anything lower than Normal (how the game was meant to be played like originally after all).

I don't think I'd want it now either since they're wireless,
wireless is good?!
no vibration
gimmick not needed
require batteries
put in some 2800 nimh and it will last weeks
fits like a glove
no analogue triggers
it has them
Those are some yellowed left analogue sticks and who knows if they aren't loose already
nope all 3 still in perfect working condition it's just the lighting
Eek, the second controller's right analogue stick seems to be dirty
it's clean now :P

The Wavebird is notorious for its increased lag when playing Smash. I have mine and I could test it out in conjunction with the new Smash GC controller and an OEM white one from Japan, but it's easier to just think about how you literally never see anyone at a tournament play with a Wavebird. It's essentially a waste of money if bought now. The new controllers are 10 feet long and the adapter itself has a 3 foot cord.

i have never seen or experienced any lag. people prob have other devices near that interfere with it.

not only does that look fugly with all the wires stretched across your floor (i have ther adapter tucked neatly under my entertainment unit sticking out flush from the bottom) but if you have kids they tend to run around a lot even in front of the tv and than what happens? :P

the same reason i mentioned above too much stuff to interfere with it at them events.

It wasn't even an issue with interference back when tournaments were just TVs in some guy's basement. The Wavebirds introduces minimal lag, but the lag is present. And honestly, the "fugliness" of a solid black wire stretching from my TV to wherever I'm playing doesn't hold a candle to the lack of comfort and ugliness introduced by the bulk of a Wavebird.

you must just have fuge hands than because it's the most comfortable controller to hold. or maybe you just need to git gewd :P

I play at a professional competition level. Given the context clues of my username and me being a female, you may be able to spot me in the top 10 of many tournaments ;)

Outside of that however, it may honestly be my least favorite controller for the Gamecube. Hell, I played Smash with the ASCII keyboard for fun and had a more enjoyable time.

I like big controllers but given the choice to use the original one I avoid it.

it has them

Good to know.

You can set how much of the cable you want to use rather than all of it at once.

Nintendo knew that the WaveBird wasn't going to be a good option so they decided to release the one and only GameCube controller, plus, if you want a wireless controller there's plenty of choices.

I wouldn't recommend anyone to play with the GamePad or Wiimote but if they don't have the GameCube adapter the best options available would be the Hori/PDP still despite that they're also wireless (connect to the Wiimote).

Is the Bluetooth tech used in the Wiimote any better than the RF tech in the WaveBird for playing Smash Bros.? Has anyone actually measured the lag and susceptibility to interference? Both operate at the 2.4GHz frequency band. :teach:

So I'm almost done with all the Smash Events but this Kirby is rather hard to focus considering the stage is so big and sometimes tough to tell where I am.

It's not a gimmick it adds to the gaming experience and has always been part of it.

It doesn't matter when it started the fact is that it makes the experience much better but the GamePad's vibration is absolutely terrible to the point I'd rather just turn it off.

Yeah, what's up with that smartphone-like vibration that's extremely loud? I far prefer the motors in the Wii U Pro Controller... The vibration of the GameCube controller is a tad too soft for my liking.

You know what's weird, though? If I play Smash Bros., to me the GameCube controller feels the most natural to use. If I play Super Mario 3D World, I just want to use the Wii U Pro Controller. If I play Pikmin 3, I refuse to use anything other than the Wiimote + Nunchuk. If I play Mario Kart 8, I just have to use the Wii Wheel.

Despite all that, I have no problems transitioning from one game to another. I realized that only now and it's amazing when you think about it. Some people will no doubt use a single controller for most games, but I'm so far really enjoying the variety and options.

The Wii U Pro Controller is OK but I've never really liked it very much after using GameCube, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Original Xbox due to the lack of analogue triggers and the wrong placement of the right analogue stick I just never found it suitable for me.

If Nintendo released the "Wii U Pro Controller Plus" with analogue triggers and the right analogue stick on the bottom then I'd buy it day one!

I ended up playing this god awful confusing stage on Easy mode because it was just too damn hard to keep track on Normal.

Anyway,

WHOA!! GET YOUR ASS LOOKED!

someone got hold of nintendo tech support on ign and this is what they said about the crashing.

I spoke with Nintendo again. There have been some developments but no fix yet. Here's what I could pull out of the phone support person.
1) Nintendo is VERY AWARE of this issue. They are clearly linking it to the Super Smash Bros game. There was no waffling on that. They do not attribute this to any other game.
2) They admit its very widespread and the problem is exacerbated by it being caused by a very popular game.
3) Two updates have come out in 10 days which is accelerated.
4) They have not fixed the issue yet.
5) They understand that their previous recommendation to format or delete the Super Smash Bros files will brick systems. So now they are NOT recommending a deleting of the game update data file or formatting.
6) They expect this to be fixed in software.

so update 5.3.2 does not fix it :glare:
