Hacking Wii U Homebrew Situation and FAQ

Okay so.. I assume the Wii U works like every other Nintendo thing and you need to either use ethernet, or explicitly put in your wireless details? If you do neither of these it won't magically update itself?

I'm thinking of getting one this year and just waiting out until exploits evolve into some kind of softmod, is it safe to assume that buying the Wii U bundle that comes with Mario and Luigi U will have a firmware under... what's the latest safe one? 5.10/ 5.11? I'll be getting it from an argos in England, it's quite an old bundle.

Yeah, I'd be willing to bet it's 3.X or possibly like 4.1.0. Also yeah, you have to tell it where to look for internet or else it can't access it.

Smash is likely to require an even later FW.

I'm hoping they come up with some kind of game launcher that doesn't check for firmware.

According to the Wii U Homebrew Situation and Faq, it seems like it is safe to update system and still be able to use potential Wii U Homebrew in the future. I am wondering that if I update Wii U System Firmware and agree to the new EULA, will that break vWii Homebrew and the possible upcoming Wii U Homebrew? Thoughts appreciated

As mentioned in the one FAQ question, it's unlikely to break the in-progress Wii U exploit for various reasons and vWii exploits work on every version.

That's awesome, I'm on 4.1.0 and I'm praying to god you guys find a way to let me play smash online without updates by release.
