So how was the OP able to get the SM3DL models when they renamed them to .narc?

Not every .bin file is a .narc file. It was in case of SM3DL. In case of Pokemon X/Y the bin files are .bch files really. Here they may be something completely different still.

Alright, thanks.

However, looking into the files with a hex editor, they have a "CGFX" header. Does that mean they're really .cgfx files?

Ah, yes, they most likely are CGFX then, I THINK I saw something about CGFX in one of the threads, so there may be a tool already, you'd need to look around.

Thanks. I'll go take a look.

(BTW, I've tried converting MK7 models with cgfx2obj, and the models export fine, but textures always export as pure black images. Why?)

(Also, I renamed various ACNL files to .cgfx, but the parts for each character all seem to get jumbled up. And as for the Special NPCs, I cannot view or convert them at all)

Oh. I just took the character models. I used the "lod" ones, as the regular ones seem to be jumbled up just like the ACNL models.

Awesome! What games does it currently support?

For now it doesn't support a specific game yet. The formats it currently supports are CGFX, NARC, SARC, bcstm and the compression formats LZ77 (both de and compression) and YAZ0 decompression. (ofcourse will I support compression in the future aswell)
Later on, it will support mkds and mk7 specific formats at least, and more console specific ones.

Eventhough the New 3DS XL is more powerful, I still feel like the DS Lite was a more polished system. It's a real shame that it never got an XL variant keeping the GBA slot. You'd have to go on AliExpress and buy an ML shell to give a DS phat the unofficial "DS Lite" treatment, and that's the best we'll ever get I'm afraid.

The phat model had amazingly loud speakers tho.

@Jayro, I don't see whats so special about the DS ML, its just a DS lite in a phat shell. At least the phat model had louder speakers, whereas the lite has a much better screen.

They probably said "Hey, why not we combine the two together and make a 'new' DS to sell".
  • Veho @ Veho:
It's a DS Lite in a slightly bigger DS Lite shell.

    It's not a Nintendo / iQue official product, it's a 3rd party custom.

Nothing special about it other than it's more comfortable than the Lite

@SylverReZ if you could find a v5 DS ML you would have the best of both worlds since the v5 units had the same backlight brightness levels as the DS Lite unlockable with flashme
