Didnt realize the game was that hard to find, all the Gamestop's and Best Buys in a 100 miles are out. Though 3 of the 4 local Target's have it. Maybe I should grab a copy tomorrow, I refuse to buy any retail game on a Nintendo console digitally

Me. Why? Because I can. Because it's the same damn thing. Because you can't always find a game in stores. Yes, I could buy it online, but some games I just always want with me. And carrying 5+ games is a pain in the ass. Don't spout shit without thinking. May not make sense to you, but obviously people can make sense of it.

Uh...huh. You can't steal a digital copy without stealing the whole system, you know. It's much more noticable. So...no, physical is not more secure.
But if you lose your console what happens to your games? Right.

Normally, most of the popular games never go out of stock here, but in sites like Amazon and ebay, they are almost every time.
and i don´t care about the digital downloads, there are stores here that offer a closed game box without the game, just the manual and stuff, you just have to show them that you have the game downloaded on your 3DS.
Where? And how much do they charge for it?

If I have the money, I would buy both retail and download version. Retail I put in my shelf to worship it and the download version I play. It's just THAT more convenient than using carts.

digital or retail copy, if you lose your system either way you are screwed end of story. because then you have to dish out another 170 bucks for the system, and the money for whatever game or games you lost.

I purchased Lego City Undercover the minute I got the email from Nintendo saying it was available for purchase. I however, am a full on idiot. I buy the $20 cards in advance every couple weeks and I add them to my account. Kind of like a savings account I guess.

I meant secure on the long term. Sooner or later servers get shut down... When servers get shut down, downloads stop working. Steam won't exist forever, sooner or later it'll cease to exist even if it takes a long time.. Things like xbox live and PSN will also stop, in like 6 years PSN and XBOX Live, won't allow you to redownload any more games for the 360 or PSN as the online services were cancelled for those systems.

And that stealing thing, people are more likely to steal the system than one game, and even so, if they steal a game, that's all they take, a game... If they steal the system, they take ALL the games I had there... So yeah, even so physical ends up being safer. You keep your game and your save files so you can use them in another system.

The heck they will. PS4, and Xbawks 720 better let me recover my accounts.

As for digital downloads I like them. But only if done right.

1. Knock the price a little off digital distribution prices. Gives a nice incentive other than the fact stores are dried out.
2. I want to be able to transfer my content via downloading my profile on another system. So if my 360 breaks I can simply recover my profile+content.

I completely dislike Nintendo's policy of only being able to link your account with a single system. Or the content to a single system. Then if your system breaks and you're out of warranty, you'll be paying an arm and a leg for repairs.

Having went to around 5 stores to find FE:A before finally getting it, here is my take on the issue.
It is an obvious fact that they would have shipped out less copies of both FE:A and Luigi's Mansion, due to decreased demand for the physical copy because of people who will just buy it digitally. My theory is that they simply overestimated the number of people who still prefer the physical copies and thus there is a shortage.
Some conspiracy theorists suggest that Nintendo purposely limited the stock to "encourage" people to buy digitally (more profit for them, yay), I don't believe this is true and I hope it isn't, because physical always > digital in my opinion.

If I lose it, that's my problem. But last I checked, most online services are...y'know...online. Nintendo may be the only one doing this atm, but they'll go the way of everyone else eventually. Say I got a PSP stolen. Guess what? I still have all of my games. Every single one. If they're going offline, I simply download them all to something as backups. But by that time, the physical games will be ridiculously cheap anyway. Nintendo isn't going anywhere, and neither are Microsoft and Sony(maybe Sony).

I bought Luigi's Mansion digitally on Gamestop

IMO these are the pros of having the game digital:

1. No need to carry all carts/game boxes around
2. Don't damage the 3DS' Cart Reader(Common problem of the 3DS)
3. Don't lose or games or get stolen which is more easier to happen than to lose the 3DS
4. Faster Loading Screens

digital is ok, i admit the loading is faster. however i feel a little better about having the cart myself because at least, if i take the carts out of the system and somehow lose the system i only have to pay for a new 3ds. not all the games i lost by going with just digital copies.

Nintendo has been limiting stock of games since the later SNES days. This is why Nintendo system exclusive games often do not drop in price until the system's last years of production. They believe this will help avoid another "video game crash".

Digital has a kind of special place in my heart seeing as a few of my games got run over when I was working >.>
There's pros and cons either way, but the way I see it, digital is a safer alternative~
But physical is a promise of always being there.

Although it's nicer to own the physical product, I find having digital copies much more convenient. Those tiny 3DS cartridges are so small that I always fear losing them when I take them out of home. On the other hand, my digital games are always in the SD card inside my 3DS. The main reason I buy digital copies though is because of the prices here, between paying $40 for a digital copy and $75 for the cartridge, the choice is pretty obvious.

When a system is starting out, I like to get as many physical copies of game that i like as possible. But by the time the system is reaching its limits, like the DS did, its nice to get a cart or digital downloads.
I can also see digital being very nice if you have a system from outside of your region and you get around import taxes and shipping.

it is usually a 10 dollar difference here, or the prices are the same between the cartridge and the digital copy where i live. so i go either way, the only digital copy of a game i bought was the mercenaries 3d and that was for the new game option.

I am aware that americans price for digital and retail version of their products are roughly the same (And sometimes cheapier in the physical version), and to tell you the truth officially the situation is the same in my country, meaning both digital and retail version cost about $75 for new titles. But all I have to do is change my region to USA or Canada and I pay the same prices as you. So it's like I'm importing the digital version, without the inconvenience of paying for shipping and import taxes, and I don't have to wait some weeks until the game gets here.
