A few days ago, I bought £15 worth of PSN vouchers. I wanted some extra games to play alongside Disgaea 3, just something to give me a bit more variety. With it, I picked up Resistance: Retribution and Final Fantasy Tactics: War of the Lions. I was astonished that War of the Lions looked great on the Vita, especially those stylish cutscenes that looked like they were made for that resolution all along. Sadly, Resistance: Retribution kinda looks like pants on the Vita. It's very pixelated, even though the twin analogue sticks make for a much better playing game.

Anyway, so I put another £20 on my Vita because I noticed the best PSP games are £16 and was torn between Peace Walker, The Third Birthday and Dissidia Duodecim. I already own the latter two for my PSP, but I wanted games that would not only benefit from the second analogue stick but also look good on the Vita's larger screen. I'm no graphics whore, but I'm not fond of games that look pixelated because they're stretched to fit. In the end, I got Peace Walker.

...and I am not disappointed.

There's very little pixelation at all and the cutscenes are - much like War of the Lions - seemingly made to fit. I don't know how that works (does the Vita decompress the videos or something?), but I'm glad it does. The second analogue stick makes the game remarkably playable, although I still don't get how anyone could have managed with only one. I'm kinda sad that I didn't give this game a go before. Capturing enemies to bolster your army, unlocking new weapons, boosting the different divisions, kicking butt in the Extra Ops... They really weren't kidding when they said this was a huge game. Even the boss fights are awesome (which is a surprise since I hated MGS3's boss fights).

So yeah. If you're complaining that you've got nothing to play on your Vita, get this. I've actually been playing it more than Disgaea 3 and I'm far more of a fan of Disgaea than I am Metal Gear Solid. Has anyone else bought a PSP game to play on their Vita and been surprised at just how much better it is?

Yeah, I stopped playing Peace Walker on the PSP because of the controls...

I might just buy a vita mainly for PSP games, and the occasional vita game as they are released. P:

If that's your reasoning then I'd just wait a couple of months. The PSP selection for the Vita currently in the USA is absolute shit. I bought my Vita for Vita games but I was excited to finally play some awesome PSP games like they should be played. And there's no Resistance: Retribution, no Coded Arms, no God Eater, no Peace Walker, no Syphon Filter. I ended up buying Monster Hunter Freedom Unite which is alright with a second analog (certainly a hell of a lot better than it was on the PSP) but the up and down camera controls are still terrible.

If you have a PS3 though you can purchase the games from the PSN Store there and transfer them to your Vita apparently.

Well I mean there aren't really any vita games that interest me at the moment, but I have a feeling there will be in the future. (same for the 3DS, I sold most of the games I bought for it already) It's a really dry time of year for the portables. But I may as well get a vita as I don't have my psp go anymore and for the future titles.
Shame about the lack of PSN available games, though. MH is a personal favorite so that's good.

Is Peace Walker that difficult to play on the PSP? If so then I'll wait until I get a PS3 to play the HD collection,

It's not terrible, but it's just really inferior to playing it with a second analog like on the HD Collection (which I've started doing now). The HD Collection version though is far superior for the better controls and online play.

If you say so. I guess I'll just wait or convince my cousin to buy it off of PSN so we can play co-op.
