This project sounds amazing! And It really shows that the wii scene is not dead yet!

This is a pretty good rival for the DML. Perhaps tueidj didn't like that crediar started to pull out DML updates just for the money. OF course, correct me if I'm wrong.

Keep up the good work, and I'll donate if requested! :D

i don't quite understand this...is this like DML but with what everyone wants like USB storage and bluetooth access?
Yes, except (as I understand it) you will need to have the original disc in the drive, and you don't have to pay him (more impressive because he could legally charge you, unlike with DML). He is doing this for the community and (I assume) because he enjoys it, not so he can make money.

Why can't you just let it be? Nobody has to pay anyhing to use DML, it's completly free to use and anyone can improve it.
Now tell me why should crediar spent his time working for free?

And tueidj doing it for the community, really? He's doing it for himself as a challenge like most people who make such things.
tueidj: if that's not true correct me!

Project looks promising, the texture issues seems pretty odd though and did it say somewhere if it run off USB or SD?

Also with it not being opensource it can actually being done that you can only play games you actually own and I highly doubt anyone here even remotely has the skill to crack it...

But if you have to have the certain disc of the game you want to play from the SD or USB then it kind of makes useless. As in you could just load it from the disc channel anyways.
Also if the GC disc you own is too scratched to be played, is the loader going to accept it?
So it kinda makes me wonder how he is going to do the anti piracy.

I assume he is loading from SD or USB in the video. But one could argue that he used a multi gamecube disc. (When it says select your game)

Still either way very nice work and look forward to being able to donate and see how this turns out.

I'm very curious to hear back from tueidj about what this anti piracy actually is. I've considered several methods and they all have fatal flaws. I do think you're underestimating this community though. There are a lot of hacking projects, including this one, that have come from GBAtemp. We've cracked Nintendo's antipiracy a time or two. It's not like tueidj is the only skilled coder to ever join this site. Let alone the difficulties involved in creating an antipiracy solution that wouldn't render the entire system neigh pointless.

I would certainly prefer it if I could play other discs, since many of mine are too scratched up to use properly, but regardless I am very excited about this project. Midna pointed out that you won't need to keep the disc in, so hopefully I can use this like I do with my Wii games (fast loading times and no need to switch discs).

WON'T: It's not going to be a warez loader. You will need to own (or at least possess) the games you wish to run. I don't plan to ask for any donations, although at some point if there's a particular game that someone wants fixed I might have to insist they provide it or at least the means for me to get it; I'm not going to fork out for a copy of MGS from my own pocket, for example.
Does that anywhere say "anti-piracy"? I don't see it.

Why the hell whenever someone does something that is so freaking awesome that people have to jump on the piracy/anti-piracy/donation bullshit kick? Give it a freaking rest...... JOOSTIN!!

@[member='tueidj'], Awesome freaking job. Huge kudos to you. We are lucky to have you as part of this community.

Yeah, but who is actually going to bother breaking this? If it was so easy to do then someone would have done it with riivolution already. Although, someone has done it with riivolution, they are not publicly or privately releasing it out of respect. And person who does know coding enough to crack this has enough respect for the original coder to not do so.... unless you are the shady wanky, but even he doesn't have enough skills.

Yes, Riivolution is a game loader.

However, it doesn't have the explicit goals of running games from SD/USB and not having to use original game disks.

Riivolution's anti-warez functions amounted to simply not offering support for non-original disks or USB loading. This project... does aim to offer USB support. This sort of adds an extra layer of difficulty to implementing anti-warez.

- Use alternative mediums for loading games (SD and USB)
- Use alternative controllers (wiimote + classic controller instead of GC controller)
- Support audio streaming games properly. It's possible but remains to be seen if it's feasible i.e. if the hardware is going to be fast enough to do what I have in mind.

That's awesome but..

1) how did you manage to implement wiimote+ classic controller support since Wiimote doesn't work in GC mode (or are games running in Wii mode??)
1.1) If you can get Wiimote working with GC games, can you also made a loader that automatically adds GC Controller support to all Wii games?
2) How did you fix the mem2/ARAM issues the original DM has? Not even crediar could fix those.
3) Fixing audio streaming was pretty much declared impossible. So what is your idea to get audio streaming working?

:rofl2:
Coming from the OP, this is bound to be the biggest hoax of the year, perhaps getting ready for an April 1st release.
Either that or he will actually have something that works to some degree and will flaunt it in front of everyone but not share it, like RawkSD.
Maybe he'll release an upside down version of Devolution?

Let's hope I'm completely wrong.

Wait, so you essentially got GameCube games running in Wii mode? I was wondering why nobody ever tried that since it seemed like the most workable choice than to hack around MIOS. Good job, look forward to using it.

I'm guessing since he author is keeping his source private its a crazy method. I am part of the church of crediar and I don't believe in usb loading for gamecube (succesfully anyway).

This is now my religion. Wiihackstianity. Time for religious war.

Don't listen to the haters. Release it or not. I'm hoping you screw with everybody first that would be funny!

This is amazing, USB loading. Really? brilliant. Being able to use the Wiimote in GC mode would be great. I would love to use a Wiimote and chuck to play WindWaker, but how would it work? would you have to have per game control configs? (like a cheat file?)
Or would it be possible to use the same control scheme as Twilight Princess? and it maybe far to early to answer or not even be possible, but what about using the pointer in GC mode to aim and such (arrows/slingshot).

Sorry for all the questions. :P

I hope this doesn't get padded out till April to find out it's just a joke lol........... Please be real.

I'm pretty sure that would suck. As I understand it, BC (very similar to boot2) puts the Wii in GC mode so it runs at half the speed. If you were to go around that and have it run at the same speed as a Wii, you would have GC game overclocked so they would be unplayable (or at least no fun).

While a straight upclock does work like that (and I'm pretty sure there are a couple videos out there showing this off through a MIOS hack) I doubt that's the only thing going on here. I would speculate more but I don't really see a reason to. tueidj can elaborate on how he did it in the future if he wants.
