No, it's a 3ds rom. The japanese version of Super pokemon scramble (The US version is going to be another month). I managed to find a rom, but I want to know if there will be problems. I'm also worried about losing my ability to get updates, downloadable games, and my future ambassador gba games. I know the cart ignores region lock, but I'm not sure about using it on my 3ds.

At the moment you cannot play 3DS roms on the DS.

I have a R4 with WoodRPG to play games in my DS, but I want to sell my DSLite and keep only my new 3DS, do anyone know what happens if I put the original R4 in 3DS?
Thanks!

I emailed Nintendo because my 3DS was stolen, they said if I could provide the Friend Code and serial number and Police report they could send an update to break the 3DS console.

TL;DR

It's true. They can clearly brick a console, but if you are asking it, they need proof you owned the console.

LOL, I call BS on that. Even if they can, they most probably won't. Dell is the same way if you try to find out if a hardware ID is stolen. Samsung, Maxtor, and so on will only tell you when try to get service. Yes, they've had shipments of drives stolen.

Now if you have something to back it up like a link to the official site, then I'll believe it.

Well, to bring new news to light, the update contained within mario 3dland has a terms that VERY clearly states that they will deactivate your system permanently.

Important! After the nintendo 3DS menu is updated, any existing or future unauthorized technical modification of hte hardware or software of your nintendo 3ds system, or the USE OF AN UNAUTHORIZED DEVICE in connection with your system, will render the system PERMANENTLY UNPLAYABLE and result in removal of unauthorized content.

I realized after I posted that I should have searched, but alas I cannot find said function :(

It's called a scare tactic.

BTW, the 'function' is under the 2.1.0-4 update (around half-way the largest paragraph in the page)
Flashcarts work fine on 2.1.0-4 and there's no report of bricking, as far as I know.

So yeah, it's total BS.

According to this site, it's real, or it could just be the game, who knows.

(And no, I haven't looked around on the temp for a while, so for all I know, this is old news. I just saw the tweet)

http://www.3dsfocus.com/2011/03/r4-flash-c...o-3ds-will.html

The funniest thing about this article is that they call the warning proof... Is not the warning the cause of the rumor? So basically they are just calling it true with no proof at all. I want to see someone update the system with hacks installed or a flash cart in the system and then see it brick that system or I will never believe it.

I have updated hacked Wii systems before and all it does is break most but not all of the hacks etc I had installed. Nintendo can kiss my a** really. I will turn right around and hack that system again when I get time with an updated version of the hacks. I pay for hardware so I can use that hardware any way I feel like using it.

If nintendo bricked a system purposely would you ever buy another product from them? I would not. I am the kind of guy that completely blacklists companies for things like that. I refuse to buy any game from 3 major publishers because of the way they handle business. I surely could do the same to nintendo. As it stands I refuse to buy sony products based on my experiences long before playstation was even a distant concept. After watching the failures that company has had in the years since I am happy to say my decision was a smart one.

Bottom line though there is always a possibility of the system no longer functioning after a normal update if anything goes wrong. And by using third party hardware your at a slightly higher risk of an update actually failing to install properly on the system. The risk is still minimal. The chances you can still get a gamestop to fix your system highly likely. Will your hacks/hardware stop working after an update? Most likely but they can also be updated later to get around that.

I really only want to hack the system because I want the ability to move saved games to an SD vs being limited to 1 save on a card. So far I see a new trend happening. No more multi save slots. Games like final fantasy and dragon quest are only coming packed with a single save. That goes almost entirely against all things done in the past when it comes to saving a game. I cannot let multiple people in my house enjoy a single cartridge now. I cannot save in multiple slots to safeguard my data against corruption. Shame on square/enix I am now considering adding them to my blacklist.

Has anyone read the new terms of service for the new update? They are usually 20 pages long but this one is very short. It basically says that unauthorized software is not allowed and you agree to have your system permanently disabled if you run any. You think they're serious?

Why the hell do people keep being scared of this stupid rumor? It's been 8 months and like 5 updates now and not a single person anywhere has ever had any problems. Let it go already people.

This was created specifically so other threads wouldn't need to be created regarding the bricking rumor, as they inevitably would, and likely still do, just not as much as they did before the creation of this thread months ago.

Sure! I called them too, and in case they detect your stolen 3DS connecting to WFC, they locate the thief with their Orbital Ion Cannon and shoot his f*cking brains out and then send in their SpecOps to make sure that the console was not tampered with... and only then they return the console to you!

Oh, by the way, they asked me if I'm interested in WiiU beta testing. Apparently they have Touch! Generation Hentai Games planned, I applaud that.

So. You called Nintendo, a company, who asked you to provide a police report, confidential information, over the phone. Then they said they could send an update, which isn't forced, to break your 3DS.

Also, you called Nintendo after your 3DS was stolen. Either you're a *really* bad liar or incredibly dumb.
