Just noticed it had a Miiverse category and when clicking on it's icon it started doing an update. :)

Go get it!

I used it a bit, and I really think the developers dropped the ball on this one. The UI looks nice, but no amount of aesthetics can replace how awkward and difficult it is to use. You have to actively use both the GamePad and the TV screen in order to search for videos, and, as far as I could tell, videos could only be played on the TV, not on the GamePad. Granted, I only used it for a couple minutes and only watched 2 videos, but the reason I didn't do anymore was a combination of sleepiness and just a total dissatisfaction with it.

I know YouTube isn't a necessity, but if you're going to have it as a native app, have it right.

Yeah, hopefully we'll see a quick follow up with an update. Cause as it is, it pretty much sucks and there's no reason to use it over the browser. :\

I think this is a "Youtube for dummies" if that's even possible. The whole purpose of this app, it seems, is for Google to sell advertising more effectively. Guided content/advertising if you will.

It's not better than the standard browser experience for anybody but the most green of novices.

Seems to be higher quality than the browser, is there a way to change resolution with the browser?

Change the resolution in the controls that are displayed in the browser portion, they're still active while the video plays in it's window / pane / whatever. Had no problem playing back a 1080p youtube stream from the browser here.

Use the internet browser for youtube. With it, you can watch videos on the gamepad and the tv!

After 2 days the Wii U browser won't let me play any videos from youtube anymore.
I keep getting errorcode 112-2903. Reloading the page doesn't help either. Same error after reloading.
Dailymotionvideos are no problem. It's only for youtubevideos.
The youtube app plays all videos without any problem but i like the functionality of the browser better.
Can someone help me with this?

I actually like the Youtube app. I find it much easier to use than the one on my Xbox. I like the dual screen too. Keep the vids on the tv and the crap on the gamepad. Seems to work really smoothly and faster than Xbox as well.

I just got it .....but this one vid has no sound for me on here , youtube on the wii u I mean ...... I just tried it from the pc and I have no sound issues ....only reason I played it on the wii u is because it was the first vid available
Let me know if you get sound with it

so I know this is an older thread but its the only 1 having remotely anything related to my issue I can't watch youtube in the browser on my wii u anymore, or at my leisure because I will try to play any video and it more often than not decides to give me error 112-2903 now I've tried everything deleted cookies even reset my save data but that doesn't help and I'd love to think its the videos but doesn't make sense how a video I started earlier but had to finish later refuses to load later please help
