The Youtube app has preroll ads on monetised videos (if they have them enabled). You get access to every possible video as a result of this though (some creators disable the ability to view on a non-monetised platform i.e. mobile web)

As for your side note I wouldn't hold your breath... This community is pretty firmly Android fanboy oriented. I don't like Apple but I try not to go around hating on everything they do. Try being the operative word though. I am prone to lapses.

As a YouTube partner being able to earn revenue on mobile devices is a dream come true, especially since I think somewhere around 52% of views now come from these platforms. I understand ads are annoying but its nice to see Google doing its best to fully implement the feature (they have been talking about it for awhile) so I for one am happy
