Some of these are guesses on the date based on my memory of when I got them and wikipedia's release date for the system and games I remember getting. It seemed like I had a Game Gear and ST for ages before I got my PSX but looking at when things were released it must have been only a couple of years.

1984 - C64 (Wasn't working last time I got it out the loft, RIP)
1988 - Atari ST (with this http://www.geocities.com/yotisrx7/PowerPack.html)
1992 - Game Gear
1994 - PSX (Chipped)
1996 - Gameboy Original (A yellow one with a bundle of games I spotted for cheap)
1996 - NES (Bought off a friend with 6 games for £10)
1997 - First PC (I'd sit around the school library and computer rooms before that)
1999 - GBC with flashcart
2001 - Dreamcast
2004 - DS
2006 - Wii
2007 - Xbox 360
2007 - Jap PC-Engine with rgb mod.

Like I say I'm fuzzy on a lot of the dates. Still got all of them somewhere and I think they all work apart from the C64 and Game Gear.

upgrade to Win 98 and better hardware under the hood 300MMX (sounded good then)
upgrade to Win XP in 2000 and more new hardware under the hood.

continual hardware evolution piecemeal becomes the norm
remaining with Win XP

Son progresses through PS1 and PS2, then discovered online gaming is more fun than consoles. Totally snubs X-Box/PS3/Wii craze and clearly couldn't care less which machine is outselling the other. Finally realizes WoW is better than feebie online games.

Both become Nintendo DS fans and R4DS users about Winter 2006-2007

In 2007 after a stormy relationship, I finally dump active support of computer wargaming.
Still a PC wargamer, but I no longer have "the fire" for it.
If it isn't on a hand held, I likely don't really care.

The ones before I was born were my mothers, but I played them when I got to around 4 years old heh.

I'm really bad with remembering dates, but I got a SNES when it first came out and I was four years old. It broke like six years later or something =/ I ended up selling almost all of my games in 4th grade but I kept the console. Then a couple years ago some guy told me I could fix it by simply using alcohol, but I never got around to doing it. My dad currently has it in Oregon and he'll probably end up selling it in a yard sale, with my permission of course. I also had two Gameboy Pockets (for Pokemon lulz), a Gameboy Color, two N64s, two DS Phats and a PS1 but those were either sold or in Oregon. I currently have a Wii (got it a couple weeks after Brawl came out), a PSP Slim (I've had it a few months longer than my Wii), a Gameboy Advance (lol I ended up getting it for my birthday like a year after it came out), and a black DS Lite I got for Christmas a year ago.

NES: 1985-Present
Gameboy-GBC: 1989-2001
PC(various) 1990-Present
SNES: 1991-Present
Virtual Boy: 1995-97 (2nd: 2005-2007)

Nintendo DS: 2004-Present (as a DS Lite)
Nintendo Wii: 2006-Present
Sega Master System: 2007-Present (crazy eh?)

Also had access for years to a Fairchild Channel F system that was mom's and I kept rigged on a 3rd car garage tv that was kind of an office throughout the 90s with off and on use until it choked...played a mean game of Blackjack. I used to have 6 Game & Watch games too and two in keychain style(this one was Zelda and SMB1 and the real were Greenhouse, Bombsweeper, DK, DKJr, Super Mario Bros ,and Balloon Fight.) I've also have a DK and DKJr Coleco Tabletop game which DK I've had since 1993~ and Jr was about 3-4years ago I got that, and have a modern Excalibur games knockoff of Frogger which is sweet for about 2-3 years too.

I'm sure you noticed a lot of crap was sold off around 2003-2005. I left the game making community at the end of 2002, and well my wife to be, work, not being at home, and just lack of care and time I ditched a lot of systems and a heap of games too. Obviously I am a Nintendo fan, but was one of Sega til death and Sony (until PS3 shenanigans) too. I now have just around 200 games of which was likely had I never sold anything probably been around 1000+ by now.
