I successfully soldered xeno chip to the board. I am playing Digimon world 4 but when I play for longer than 30 mins the audio starts to stutter and then a disc read error pops up. Anyone know why?

Does this happen with official discs?

Does the error happen regardless of where you are in the game (e.g. leave on the menu for half an hour then load a new game?)

Is the console well ventilated?

If you immediately restart the console/game does it still error?

Two potential areas I can think of is either heat related (e.g. dodgy solder joint, bad chip, etc.) or media related (e.g. it's happening in an area with bad sectors and by chance this is 30 minutes into the game).

Thank you for your response! Haven't tested it! The system does not immediately error after restarting. It was a little close to a the wall on a shelf. I'll move to an open area. Will test official discs and pay attention to any potential over heating. I'll get back to you. Thank you again.

I tested an official disc allowing it to run for 30 plus minutes Time Splitters 2. Nothing happened. Tested it with a dvd-r and after 30 minutes the bgm was stuttering. But didn't realize it was 81 degrees in the house. My wife opened all the windows to air out the home and clean. Poor GC was working twice as hard to cool itself off. Thank you again! 😅

Sounds like the laser is struggling. You'll need to readjust the laser pot to better read burnt discs as it requires more power.
