Seriously, wire management is the reason I've stopped buying consoles for now. It's out of control. For consoles which you don't use all the time. But from time to time. A part of me says you don't need 70 HDMI cables. But I just come to get rid of them.... just in case.

What do you do for wire management?

Any tips or tricks?

Simple, I don't bother.

Trying to cable manage my setup is borderline impossible without making it look stupid or having complications down the line.

It also doesn't help that I have to daisy chain HDMI switches, deal with different converters and regularly swap around cables for one reason or another.

It has taken me many years to get okish at cable mangement.

Basically a cable sleeve and velcro ties are all you need. If it's for your desk, pick up a try for the power supply.

The main issue is the time spent and faff around it.

Instead of living in a house, simply weave yourself a giant bird's nest using the hdmi cables.

I believe this is what Big Bird's cousin who lives on the roof of a Best Buy does.

They try to boast that their nest is worth allot but everyone knows that those cables are overpriced.

I have so many HDMI cables it's kind of a joke here. Like we buy a new product and someones like "it didnt come with an hdmi cord does anyone have one?" And I just put my hand near the floor grab something and 9/10 times it's an HDMI cable. the other times it's a USB C cable

Stopped caring long ago. There's no way to have multiple consoles and well managed cables. My drawers are a fucking mess, thanks for reminding me.

I do a few things:

1, all of my consoles, streaming dongles, anything else I want to hook up, all go to a surround receiver with multiple HDMI inputs, and a single HDMI output to my TV. This makes a lot of sense for me because I have my consoles and the receiver on a tall cabinet next to my TV stand, so I'd rather not have a half dozen cables flowing across to reach the TV from there. In lieu of a pricey AV receiver, you could also just use a cheaper HDMI switch

2, a lot of trial and error with routing cables in a way that takes up as much of the slack as possible so I don't have to coil the excess, and also buying shorter and/or slimline cables so that there is just physically less that I have to cable manage

3, velcro. velcro, velcro, velcro. Double sided, with hook on one side and loop on the other, so it can be used as cable ties. There's a bunch of different widths available, but in the end I'm always looking for the big rolls that I can cut to length rather than the pre-cut ones that have a hole in one end so you can cinch down on it. Like this: https://www.amazon.com/ELEYY-164ft-Hook-Cable-Straps/dp/B09BFWT1MW Cable tie anchors too, so that you have hard points to tie your cable bundles to rather than letting them flap around. There are adhesive, magnetic, and screw-hole ones, depending on what you need to attach it to

I used to work in IT and now work in datacenter operations, and I've developed a bit of a knack for cable manglement over the years :tpi:

I only have one console plugged in at a time and the rest in storage in a different room.
Same for the most part. PC to the TV, 2 USB-Cs to the couch and the rest is out of sight. Switch hands right by PC so it's also out of sight and out of the way, and the rest are in their cubbies and drawers.
