ive been trying to install windows xp on an old pc whitch barely handles win 7. so i made a bootable usb drive and set up bios to legacy+uefi and made usb as top priority boot device, but it just boots back to win 7. ive tryed using UUI and rufus none of em worked. help

There are numerous reasons not to use Windows XP, including but not limited to the fact that it no longer receives security support and hasn't for three years. Most major programs, such as Google Chrome, don't support it anymore. If your computer can't run Windows 7 well, you might want to use a low-resource Linux distro, such as Lubuntu.

what are the specs of this computer? ram type, cpu, that stuff
I'd take a guess that it's around 1 GB of RAM or less, and yeah just like @Lacius run a Linux distro instead of using an outdated operating system. As much as I love XP, it's too flawed and insecure to be usable these days (and no major web browser works with it anymore).

Start => Run => DXDIAG (Show your PC specs)!

Most major programs, such as Google Chrome, don't support it anymore.

FireFox also never support Windows XP anymore, which version 52 is the LAST one! When, better using Opera or other browser which support Windows XP forever.

I question how old the PC actually is given it supports UEFI, even if you got the XP installer to boot you probably won't find drivers compatible with XP.

A Core2Duo from 10 years ago can run Windows 10 well with 4gb of ram, you might just need to spend a few £, get another stick of ram and the PC will be good to go.

best bet to get xp on is to nuke the HDD, wipe it and delete all partitions but its a shame because W7 is pretty cool, i was able to run it with no problems on a very old laptop.

you might be worth keeping 7 and just doing a full clean install.
