Never said it wouldn't run. Just still XP would outperform on those spec. No more, no less.

XP < Vista < 7, as far as performance goes on the same hardware (hardware that meets the recommended requirements of all of them).
Seven pages of benchmarks for 'ya.

Showing Benchmarks where 1 outperforms another is not difficult. Xp > 7 I have a backup machine with an e6300 Core2 Duo, 4 gigs, and a gts 250. XP Did much better than 7 on it... They both worked drastically better than Vista.

64 bit is a wasted effort on a machine that will never have more than 2 gigs of ram.

And I have found zero differences between 64 and 32 as far as enjoying Windows 7 is concerned. But keep in mind, 64 doesn't like everything in some cases and actually WANTS 32 bit.

I've voluntarily dumped my 64 usage all because it wasn't really worth it without MORE than 4 gigs of ram.

2 - He's testing 7 Ult 64, Vista Ult 64, and then an unnamed version of XP, 32.

3 - He ends with "Maybe I could turn Aero off and see what kind of results I get then? I’ve always wondered what kind of impact it has on the system.", when anybody that knows their shit would know that Aero's use of the new DWM means it's offloaded to the GPU, not the CPU.

I'm going to call fault with that source.

Details, give them.

Higher FPS in Wow, Civ 4, Aeon, FF14 (Beta), SC 2. Higher scores on 3dMark06. I am not doing this with you again. Make your final point about how wrong I am, and what an idiot I am obviously being. Then I will be nice enough to not respond. I swear you seem to just enjoy flame wars. (insert random remark about calling my BS)

But it does run well. So, you're wrong.

Also, everyone, stop the damn arguing over useless nonsense. Rydian's right, he uses foul words, but that doesn't detract from the ontopic things he said.

4D H0M1N3M GU1Z3!!!11!

Running "well" doesn't count if you are talking about a web browser.

What's it like running TWO games of minesweeper on that monsterous netbook AT THE SAME TIME? lol

How do you like extracting a 5GB .rar? I bet it extracts them......"well"
How about video conversions? I bet it will convert a five minute movie by next year.

Oh well, I obviously don't know as much as you guys. I'll just make everyone happy and leave. See you after the jump!

Did you even read what I said?

I was disclaiming your source.

It doesn't matter what your source says if it tested incorrectly, was before the release of one of the three products, and the tester showed ignorance of the components used.

Er... who said anything about a webbrowser, Minesweeper, extracting .RARs or converting videos? I'm pretty sure it wasn't me.

I installed Windows Seven Ultimate on a Virtual Machine, with 691 MB RAM. It's working flawless.
So, I guess I'm going for it. Thanks everyone.

Windows 7 is way better, I've been using Windows XP since 2003, or earlier. And as soon as I went to Windows 7 I knew it was better, the way it looks feels refreshing too. I can't say if it's better in performance wise since my last computer was a 2003, and this one is a 2010 that has way better specs.

You will have trouble with only 1.5 GB Ram. I have 2 GB with Windows 7 Ultimate 32 bit and it is sometimes not enough.

i have 2GB of ram and i can run windows 7 64 BIT home edition fine.
this

I have pro though but works fine, no problems

Windows 7 was designed to be easy to use. Your dad will have no problem with it.

If you want something good for a netbook, get a new one with Windows 7 Starter. It's a great OS, and you can update to Home if you feel like it for cheaper.

Plus, it's pointless getting Professional. It'll just reduce your netbook, new OR old, to nothing.
