Gaming WiiSports Resort not loading (original disc)

I did a softmod on a friends Wii and now he can't use his Original Wii Sports Resort disc.

His wii is a 4.2u and the disc error he is getting is a #002 error.

Anyone with any ideas?

I was thinking of just telling him to dump the original disc to the HD and load it from there with the 002 fix on.

What do you think?
