When I try to update my wiikey, after the test I have this message: "Please check your connections and try again"
Why?

well that's a bit easy isn't it

just like saying
" i'm eating this food and it is sour! why? "

anyway, probably a badly installed wiikey (update lead not instlaled) or a noncompatible clone (fuses wrong or whatever it was that causes that)

I finally updated my Wiikey... after thousand of error messages asking to check connections... by accident I could get it updated...

Here is go:

After the disc read with the SEGA noise...let it go normally until wii ask to press A to check the Flash... in this moment you have to eject the disc from disc tray.. and now press A.. and repeat the process again to apply the update...

I did that also, and i thought the only way to check if it really is updated is to insert setup disc 1.2 to checkif it can be read again or isn't this working?

If that isn't working how can i check if i really have the update installed?

yes that ejecting disc doesnt work.
if the update wont work you most likely got a clone.
i replaced my clone with a real wiikey and the updater worked fine

Well i'm sure i have a genuine wiikey (was at modder's place when chips arrived).
I guess i need to bring wii back to him to check soldering's on chip

and what is supposed to be the update wire? I soldered over 50 wiikeys and its strange that only the clones i got wont update to the new firmware. but when i solder a real wiikey on the same dvd drive the update works fine.

Wow, that's interesting. Did WiiKey find a way to kill the clones?

Funny when pirates get concerned about other pirates.
