So my Wii was not possible to repair, therefore, they exchanged my Wii for a new one.
I noticed that my original Wii serial # and the new one are different.

My old Wii had a D2B chipset.
The new one I just got is: LU556
...so...umm...whats my new chipset/drive? Im gessing D2C or D2E...

Im gonna need to get a new modchip ordered and I need to make sure I get the right one, with the right Wii-clip. So can anyone offer any help?

Or...should I wait for some kind of softmod to come out in the near future, since I'm seeing soo much improvement in the scene and all this Bushing stuff...?

Why in the **** would you send in the modchip!?

Isn't possession of modchips illegal in the USA?
They can't prove you put it there or used it. That's why I said, don't call them and ask why you didn't get it back.

@TC: so you got a brand new replacement, that's lucky.

Serialtracker got this result for your new Wii:

Your Drive Chip is most likely GC2-D2C.

Your Drive Pins are most likely not cut.

So...does that mean a D2Ckey or D2Pro?

or...should i just keep waiting for more info adn releases on Custom firmware/softmod for the Wii?

I think you got off lucky.
Close call.
Did you have any crucial data on your wii?
(The real reason that it was impossible to repair, is probably bacause they couldn't remove your modchip without further damaging your wii. So they sacrificed a whole new wii unit just to make you buy games)
Nintendo used to be so kind. Now they love old people.

It looks like that guy got hit in the balls. XD

EDIT: Those "old" people are their customers from the 1990s, the NES years. XD

The only crucial data I had on my wii was probably my game saves and my friend codes, anything else: backed to an SD card.
No worries here.

hey at least you got a new wii, and I'd recommend getting a D2Pro. Should be compatible with you wii.
if you need some more clarification:

I really want to get a D2CKey instead of a D2Pro
D2Ckey can be updated via DVD-R, while D2Pro needs extra add-ons to purchase

.
Not to mention, D2CKey is WAAY cheaper than D2Pro.

But I'm hoping for someone to tell me if its possible to get a D2CKey. If its not possible for me at all to get it, then ill go for the D2Pro.

Well, then why not remove the modchip before sending it?

Kinda late, but if you remove modchip and send it for repair, you're sending in an opened console with possible trace of modchip removal. I'd say that puts you in a worse position than sending it in with modchip attached and saying "I got it second-hand and didn't know the console was tampered." And you can make up who you got it from and such.

incorrect D2Ckey is only upgradeable with the D2bridge and jtagger,
D2Pro9 on the other hand is DVD upgradeable, the only time it will need the d2prog is if you get either old stock, or a new protection gets added that
requires a change in the FPGA code (in which case a D2Ckey would be totally fuxord because they need several addons to be reflashed to the new code)
