Hi all, I am wondering in going to completing softmodding my WiiU machine.

I do have 1 question though, I am wondering in having a single 128GB or 256GB SD card mounted at all times, is it feasible to use that single card to run backups of Wii, WiiU, eShop and Gamecube games?

I do have a connected USB drive to my WiiU which holds my legally bought games.

The drive on my WiiU is also dead, so hence I´m just gonna mod it.

Thanks.

I've run Wii U games via Loadiine and old console (NES, SNES etc) games on a modded Wii channel. Haven't tried Wii or GC games from SD but it should work.

But do I have to keep it in different partitions? A single FAT32 will suffice? Or do I need multiple partitions?

The file systems of the Wii U and the vWii are different, so they would have to be partitioned / recognised as different drives for it to work - in theory!

I am not even sure if partitioning the one drive/card works, though I have read discussions about it somewhere in the forums here.

Nope, FAT32 is universal across all devices, even your SDCard will work on Nintendo Switch.
The following folders will represent each homebrew:
wii (readed by wii homebrew)
wiiu (readed by wii u homebrew)
On Switch, it's just plug in, install game on it and viola.

Loadiine is outdated, we now have Brazilian method.
Also, we have RetroArch which now has Minimalistic Menu UI and XMB UI support.
Wiiflow reads games from SD afaik, and you should play Wii/GC games just fine

Yep and I use it for most everything but with the 300 channel slot limit some eShop games have to spill over to Loadiine if someone wants them 'all'. And yes Wii/GC games should work from SD, WiiFlow and WiiFlow Lite work great on the Wii U under the Wii channel.

I will have to try RetroArch again under the Homebrew Channel on the Wii U. The last time I tried it I had a bear of a time getting anything to work and ended up with loads of useless items in the Homebrew menu.

One of the reasons I´m asking is because I have a hard disk connected to the WiiU with some legit games that I bought and I don´t wanna mess all that up, so I am thinking if going for SD is the best way to go. Or I should just use that drive instead, but then I would have to format the drive I suppose.
