Yea, the characters are included in the update because the game needs to have the data if other people are playing as them, just doesn't have any tracks.
Can you install the paid DLC for MK8 via this wup not just updates or does the DLC need ticket the same as title?. I was thinking this cause I have ordered another copy "4th" coming tomorrow morn.

Edit: or can it be done via TCPGecko? or cafiine or some way.

How can you not see the harm? If we were to release an IOSU exploit, there would be tons of brick reports.

There are a few reasons I'm not publishing the 3.x exploit:
1 - It's not mine to give.
2 - It has been, allegedly, patched.
3 - I'm more interested on finding a decent exploit that works up to the latest firmware. Why? Because then it will be mine to give, plus, I'll be able to make it safe enough for the end-user.

I haven't even bothered checking if this exploit has been patched or not and releasing it would be not only pointless but dangerous.
I don't understand why people are so eager to get their hands on something that could potentially brick your console. I think it's quite obvious that something like this needs a lot of preparation and care.
How would any of us account for tons of bricked units?
the only thing i cant think of is if more game devs/hacker(nonne general public) had it, it might be easier to crack iosu with more people searching and whatnot.

So right now, it's just a matter of waiting till things are refined?

The idea behind the whole asking for it, was to begin the fundamental work for a emuNAND solution, because I can see the spoofer stuff not working anymore in the near future ... which the people on 3.x can't use anyway, so there would be something to do :D. And about that whole bricking story, we might have finally found a reason to realy try and backup the Wii U NAND bank :D

But as you said, it's not your choice to make, so we have to deal with it.

Is this also the definitive answer, when it comes to the question if 3.x consoles should be updated now ?
Or do you see the people in charge of it, giving it out publically any time soon?

Yes, total, including any previous updates. The current size I have is 127 MB (133,744,421 bytes)

So the Wii U stores the new update before removing the old one, then, so requires double the space for installation (old update still installed + new update size), and the page accounts for this on the fly? Or it keeps both? This is kind of confusing. Wonder why they don't just overwrite the old data otf.

I know the update isn't 300mb though, I just downloaded it last night. Lol.

Now that we have basic access to executing code would it be possible to edit the touch gamepad in such a way that games in wii mode could be controlled using it acting as a classic controller?

I suppose we would need access to the os on the pad itself? It clearly responds to buttons being pressed and such while in wii mode which is intresting, perhaps modifying the launcher for wiimode in future would allow us to send and retain information on the pad?

Just got home from a far away store.
HYPE IS REAL!
