Hardware Wii U Gamepad Extender

what connects the Gamepad to the Wii U? Bluetooth or WiFi? And is there a way to extend the connection? Cuz I have my Wii U inside a cubby hole so it's a little annoying that it won't even reach into the next room 10ft away. I know if I bring the Wii U out of the cubby hole it'll reach but was just wondering if they're we're any other options.

I think i read somewhere that it was a kind of wifi and that he was building a repeater, but i can not find the source at the moment

But looks like no one is using a repeater to keep the latencies low. Everyone i found is modifying the antenna. But I do not know how healty it is if you have "high power antennas" surrounding ou all the time. In theory it should not be harmful but who knows.
