whats the difference between soldering a cable to the drive board and soldering the a Mod chip on.

They both sound like the are 'mod'ifying the stock system to me.
stupid title getting my hopes up.

Its a real pain in the ass considering your Wii has to be tethered to your computer at all times in order for this mod to work.
