So I made a dump out of a untouched 'backed up' copy of mario kart wii (not retail) with imgburn and the size came out 4,700,307,456 bytes
shouldnt it be 4,699,979,776 bytes?

if so what did i do wrong?

Seem to recall it was Nero related. When discs were written out with Nero then they added to the size written, producing this effect.

If it had been written with Imgburn then it would have been the correct size after reading in.

I can copy a copy from which the original ISO was burned with Imgburn. I can not copy a copy which was burned with Nero. Nero writes the original ISO (4,699,979,776 bytes) and completes the disc with 4,700,307,456 bytes. I don't know why Nero changes the number of bytes. The Nero-burned disc is still playable, just not copyable.
