So I use my Wii for playing retro games on my TV, and it works pretty well. I would use my raspberry pi, but it's currently being used as an NAS and always-on torrent seedbox and emulation might be pretty slow on it.

I have some pretty huge collections of retro game ROMs and I'd rather not use the space on my HDD connected to the Wii since I use it with UNEEK+DI. My question is, which emulators support loading ROMs via a network share, either SMB or AFP? I would like to be able to emulate the following systems:
    • Game Boy
    • Game Boy Advance
    • Game Gear
    • NES
    • SNES
    • N64
    • NeoGeo
    • Sega Saturn
    • Sega Genesis
    • PS1
    • MAME
    • Atari 2600
    Thanks in advance!

Why not just drop $50 for a 500GB external HDD? That would store all your ROMs, plus any Wii games, and you wouldn't have to worry about network being down, load times, etc. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B005J7YCHG/

See, that's the thing. I have a 1TB HDD on there already.
Safe to say I have a lot of games.

I think all the emulators with GX in the title support samba shares right out of the gate, and the ones I know of are FCE Ultra GX (NES), Genesis GX (Genesis/Megadrive/Gamegear), SNES9x GX (SNES), VBA GX (GB/GBC/GBA).

I don't know about the other systems, because either I don't care to emulate them, or their emulators never work for me so I can't try them out. But of the ones I listed above, they all have samba share support built-in.
