Hacking Wii DVD Lens cleaner

I know the wii wont read any old cd but can I load a lens cleaner with a hombrew app?

I don't know for sure, but I think this is not possible. You see, the lens is no software/firmware (not a program), but it's hardware. I don't think you can clean the lens with a program, but if I'm wrong, please correct me

the initial spin up of such a disc would be enough to clean the lens, however, if you really feel like you need a lens cleaning, I'd open the beast up to do so, or just send it in.

Basically a lens cleaner requires the console to play the disc as if it were an audio CD. The only media homebrew that works with the optical drive as far as I know is MPlayer, but that's for video DVDs, not audio CDs.

thanks cyclo, all i need now is a dvd lens cleaner, I got MpayerWii on my homebrew channel, will that work?

If I open it up what shall I clean it with?

No. Definitely not.

Get some Isopropyl and do the job properly.

Or buy a DVD cleaner kit and use the fluid from that.

ok i burned it 4x speed at my cousins and it seemed to work, shall i still try and open and clean it?

Then you might have bad-settings.

Try IMGBurn on 2,4x

every time i try 2x speed the burn fails even with nero wasted about 5discs

Stop using Nero. IMGBurn is accepted as the best burning program for Wii games.
