Hi, I'm discovering the joys of owning a Wii in the year of 2026. Better late than never. Been playing the NTSC Virtual Console version of Star Fox 64 a bunch, and there's this annoying audio distortion that's hard to ignore throughout the game, like the audio is crackling. It's most noticable in the end credits. This video I found on youtube shows it off as well, so I know the issue isn't just on my end: (45:56 in case the timestamp doesn't work) I was surprised how nobody online seems to have discussed this over the years. Has anyone else noticed this or similar issues on other n64 VC releases? Is the cause known? Out of curiosity, I did try the PAL Lylat Wars release, and the audio was perfectly fine in that one.

This will create an empty 240p.txt file inside root://ZGX. It will delete it again when you disable it. Reload the emulator to save the setting and activate it on next boot. - The 4M RAM cartridge is always OFF at boot. Enable it only when your game needs it. Recommended BIOS: Saturn USA 1.00 (most compatible) Controls - emulator game list: D-pad Up/Down = move through the list Hold D-pad Up/Down = continuous scroll (fast) D-pad Left/Right = jump by page A = start selected game B = exit to loader L+R = toggle 4M RAM cartridge ON/OFF Z+Y = toggle 240p for supported displays (Gamecube controller) ZL+ZR = toggle 240p for supported displays (Wii Classic Controller / Wii U Pro Controller) Controls - in-game: Start+Z = exit game back to emulator (Gamecube controller) Home = exit game back to emulator (Wii Classic Controller / Wii U Pro Controller) L+R+Start = toggle sound (muting gains some fps) . Shows "SND OFF". QoL suggestions for Z-GX: - 4:3 or stretched 16:9 aspect ratio setting. - Enable/Disable FPS counter. (it is always enabled) - Sub-folders support. - Long name autoscroll on the list could be a bit faster. (IMPLEMENTED in build 20260803A) - Option to pick any Saturn BIOS file. - Turbo toggle to fast-forward. - Selection of RAM/ROM cartridge type to use. Known bugs: - Toggling the sound OFF hangs the emulator. - Saves are not working. (since 20260729 build) (FIXED in build 20260811B) - Title name on the game list disappears when it finishes scrolling. - Have at least 24 games. Position the cursor in slot 000, 001, 002, 003, or 004, press right to go down one page. Now keep pressing Up like you wanted to go back to slot 014 or further, the list won't scroll, but the names will. You will only notice visually if you have your covers assigned. - When you launch the emulator from USB, games/art on the device will be ignored if a SD card is also inserted with the same Z-GX folder structure. SD will be prioritized. - When you launch the emulator from USB, and there is a SD card inserted without the Z-GX folder structure present, it will DSI crash. - 12 seconds pause before the game starts booting, affects build 20260811B. - Cover files do not load when you start the emulator from a USB device, yet it will load them if a SD card with the files is inserted before emulator launch. (FIXED in build 20260803B) - 240p.txt file is not detected or generated when you launch the emulator from a USB device. (FIXED in build 20260803A) - 240p mode is not working when you launch the emulator from a USB device. Hey this might be a noobish question but if we changed the Drive in the Wii to say like a normal Pc drive would it read the games or what?

Ya, no way in hell that'd work

And if I were you, I'd hold off on the hardware mods - it looks like the Wii is right on track for software mods (and is still currently "evolving")

That's what I'm going to do just wait until they release either an iso loader or a way to put custom firmware on wii or play backups without the need of a modchip.
