Say what you will, but ever since, like, 2022 started, the internet has become a total load of shit.

Unnecessary censorship, idiots being encouraged to make content just for revenue and clout, and not for fun, multi-million tech conglomerates disrespecting user privacy—the internet really has become a shithole.

The internet has also ruined things in our society—attention spans are at an all-time low, businesses are closing down since they can't hire people, because those people are too invested in the idea of becoming a web celebrity like Markiplier, and once professional spaces like the gyms and cemetaries have been ruined by snotty little Instagram and TikTok brats who like to treat their lives like a goddamn web show, recording everything they do and everything around them.

And don't get me started on the smartphone. What was once a revolutionary product has now just become one of the horsemen of the internet apocalypse, especially since it's all "Apps" these days and not "Websites."

The internet has been ruined so damn much that I don't think any is going back. Long gone are the good days of things like Club Penguin, Filthy Frank, Shrek Is Love, et cetera.

Also (and this will most likely be a controversial take here): The internet shouldn't replace actual jobs. Unless you're using the web to kickstart a small project or business, or if you're selling a computer program or product on something like RedBubble (say, a t-shirt promoting your YouTube channel), then you shouldn't use the internet as your job. Be prepared to go out somewhere and do actual work.

The internet is, and SHOULD ONLY BE, a HOBBY. Something you play around with on the side after work or on weekends/holidays from work.

I know I did make a couple of exceptions, but the point still stands—that, and I ain't much of a writer.

Ehh, I think is the natural evolution of celebrity status

Before the internet, everyone wanted to be on TV, or on the cover of certain magazines, but attempting it was way harder and required a lot of opportunities and knowing certain people

Now the internet allows insta communication for eveyone to see and hear and know every single idea, opinion and thought you may have, and a lot of people eat that shit out, even if it may be because people make fun of you, fame is equal in the eyes of some as infamy is

What was a hobby became a mainstream, and as a successor of everything behind, it amplified every single of the worst aspects until we got to where we are today

I'm visiting such a small part of the internet, I don't use social media, I used to follow brilliant people on Twitter but when that got destroyed I replaced it with nothing. I do watch stuff on YouTube, and that place has gone downhill, can't pinpoint exactly when it happened, but so much AI slop and feels like overall very little interesting stuff when I go there.

I'm not sure it's a negative, makes it very easy to not use it that much, frees up time for more worthwhile stuff.

I do see a lot of people addicted to their screens, I don't know how they aren't bored of it after a while. I think there are a lot of tech companies that are evil, they know the weak points in the human psyche and exploit the shit out of it to make you watch as much advertising as possible or spend your money.

Beginning of covid is when it started to all gone down hill at an accelerated rate.

I've watched how smartphones in general (and more recently, the cancer currently known as TikTok) have been dumbing down society as a whole. The internet used to be a trusted source to look up information. Now there's so many damn lies being spread, we need community fact-checkers in place just to get the truth out of people. It's sad and quite pathetic. (One orange shit-stain is to thank for the majority of THAT problem, but that's an issue for a different dedicated section of the forum.)

I think the internet died years ago when people didn't question why Facebook needed their real names.
You guys still use your real names on Facebook? LMAO

I would NEVER.

dumb people getting dumber, smart people getting smarter. The good parts are still there, maybe more than ever. But there is this layer of companies who fight for the front view entrance and plaster their ideologies over it so much, that only a true seer is able to remember the old entrypoints to the anarchic chaos that we used and loved as the internet back in the days.
. . : : The Hacker's Manifesto : : . .

Another one got caught today, it's all over the papers. "Teenager
arrested in computer crime scandal", "Hacker arrested after bank
tampering"...

Damn Kids. They're all alike.

But did you, in your three-piece psychology and 1950's technobrain ever
take a look behind the eyes of a hacker? Did you ever wonder what made
him tick, what forces shaped him, what may have molded him?

I am a hacker, enter my world...

Mine is a world that begins with school. I've listened to the teacher
explain for the fifteenth time how to reduce a fraction. I understand
it. "No, Mrs. Smith, I didn't show my work. I did it in my head..."

Damn kid. Probably copied it. They're all alike.

I made a discovery today. I found a computer. Wait a second, this is
cool. It does what I want it to do. If it makes a mistake, it's because
I screwed up. Not because it doesn't like me...

or feels threatened by me...

or thinks I'm a smart ass...

or doesn't like teaching and shouldn't be here...

Damn kid. All he does is play games. They're all alike.

And then it happened... A door opened to a world... Rushing through the
phone line like heroin through an addict's veins, an electronic pulse is
sent out, a refuge from the day to day incompetencies is sought... A
board is found.

"This is it... This is where I belong..."

I know everyone here... Even if I've never met them, never talked to
them, may never hear from them again... I know you all...

Damn kid. Tying up the phone line again. They're all alike...

You bet your ass we're all alike... We've been spoon fed baby food at
school when we hungered for steak... The bits of meat that you did let
slip through were pre-chewed and tasteless. We've been dominated by
sadists, or ignored by the apathetic. The few that had something to
teach found us willing pupils, but those few are like drops of water in
the desert.

This is our world now... The world of the electron and the switch, the
beauty of the baud. We make use of a service already existing without
paying for what could be dirt cheap if it wasn't run by profiteering
gluttons, and you call us criminals. We explore... And you call us
criminals. We exist without skin color, without nationality, without
religious bias... And you call us criminals. You build atomic bombs,
you wage wars, you murder, you cheat, and lie to us and try to make us
believe it's for our own good, yet we're the criminals.

Yes, I am a criminal. My crime is that of curiosity. My crime is that
of judging people by what they say and think, not what they look like.
My crime is that of outsmarting you, something that you will never
forgive me for.

I am a hacker, and this is my manifesto. You may stop this individual,
but you can't stop us all...

After all, We're all alike.

Amen! I feel about internet become worse and more worst over years. I feel like we are under threat because of s**t AIs and robots on internet can do big harm to us and everyone. I dislike them. Some companies are very greedy everywhere on internet. Social websites like Facebook, Instagram, Meta, X (Twitter), and go on with s**t because of very annoy AIs are easy to catch people accounts then get banned when write weird comments. Everything are get very worse because companies are tweak AIs are act like police, tough security and on are big threats to us and people f9r no reasons.

When companies are make AIs like robots become too greedy like super powers to control whole internet are full of BS and something happen can do big harm and threat to us and people. I can feel in near future then anytime in one day then people already have big plan to target electric nuclear power plants then destroy all of them then will do major damages to AIs like robots. I'm not lied. It would get a lot of worst everywhere in our world. I dislike most of them because of threats due to AIs like robots are know to harm and ruined us and people.

I would like to roll back to old school like Amish in near future to forget all of BS due to very annoy by AIs like robots on internet.
Big shame on all of AIs like robots must take down right now!:hateit::angry::nayps3::angry:

The internet peaked around 2010, once everyone started getting iPhones and Android's, therefor been connected 24/7 things progressively got worse.

It's no longer something you really went on anymore, it just became something that's everywhere.

The privacy violations started, with the likes of Google and other companies been able to track and datamine everything you do, 24/7.

Social media became more than just been social, Facebook changed with the introduction of the news feed and started ramming adverts, pages and news down everyone's throats. It was no longer just a social network of your friends then.

Twitter / X is full of bots spreading misinformation.

Now even if you are using a VPN, its still supposed to be possible to fingerprint your browser with 95% accuracy simply based on your plugins, how you use the browser, window size, regional settings and so on.

Later in 2025 you'll need to scan your face / provide ID to prove your an adult to use social features on the Xbox, even if your account of these services is over 18 years old...

The internet was amazing in the late 90s / early 2000's, back when it was just us teenagers playing games, chatting on MSN, posting on forums and the more geekier adults using it for research and such.

Can you really blame me, though?
NOPE, I'm getting a degree in IT and i think about this clip from the IT Crowd every day.
