this question has most likely been answered before in the past, but now, i´m kinda concerned that we will NEVER get one. from what iv´e seen, there have been no known software-based exploits for the system yet. so, why is that? i know it´s only been 3 years into the system´s lifespan, but i think there would of been some kind of software or game exploit by now. i´m just confused on why we haven´t gotten anyhting yet. so, if anybody can give me a rundown on why this hasn´t happened yet, let me know.

I thought the softmod was the RCM exploit. That is very similar to freemcboot (PS2) and the pandora battery (PSP) Hardmod was when you had to like solder a unit

The switch is dirt easy to mod just have a $5 clip and a unpatched unit and you are golden that is probally the most cheaptest method in the scene from what I saw.

It's probably just lack of necessity really. I mean, you don't even need a modchip. You can technically mod your Switch using a paperclip and a USB-C cable, that's gotta be one of the lowest cost "hardware" exploits available. And install AutoRCM and you can ditch the paperclip.

SX has their modchip coming for patched and mariko units. I feel like there's enough unpatched units in the wild that there's not a great need for any other exploits. I'm also very sure the potential exists for other soft-based exploits, but even so it may be impossible to use them to boot a full-fledged CFW. Nintendo really did a much better job securing the Switch than past consoles.
