Hardware Which laptop should I get?

So my old laptop died this morning, and this weekend I'm going to buy a new laptop, and I have it down too two different ones right now. I don't know much about computer hardware, so I'm asking for some help in deciding. From the specs, I can't see any difference between these two.

I feel that either one is a really good price, and the reason I'm going with Target is that I get 15% off because I work there. I'll only be using it for some older games, web browsing, and learning python. Any help I could get would be appreciated.

For all intents and purposes, they're the same laptop. Buy the one you want based on input/outputs you want and aesthetics (those are the only differences I could spot).

This. They're completely identical. Up to brand preference and what he said honestly.

Thanks guys, I thought they were the same, I just was making sure I wasn't looking over anything. I have until Friday to find one, So I'll be doing some more looking around. I've found a few others in my price range, I'm looking at.

I saw that too. I'm thinking about going with this instead. From what I can see, the processor isn't as nice, and it has half the ram, but has a Terabyte harddrive. I can upgrade the ram later though, and from reviews it seems it has a pretty good battery life.

Actually for the advances between generations I'd almost say that that i3 is as competent as the i5 in the other two. RAM as you said can be upgraded as long as you can find the correct type (you will need to find DDR3L @1600MHz for it to work, but it's not particularly uncommon), but so could a hard drive on the other two. Overall, though, I think you'll be happier with the Inspiron

Exactly what you said, the broadwell i3 outclasses the Sandy Bridge i5, also the Dell is a newer product in general so that's cool

Just a little update. I got the laptop, and I love it. Does everything I need it too, and will be perfect for when I start school in the spring. Thanks a lot for the help, I really appreciate it.
