What's the point of catching a shooting star?

I caught a shooting star yesterday - didn't even know those existed!
What are they for? What do you get out of them?

They're used to upgrade some outfits. You can also sell them for a good price. I think they also improve recipies when used for cooking.

But I think they're best saved for upgrading outfits.

thanks! I haven't come across this sort of upgrade but I will definitely keep one in my inventory.
that being said, it doesn't seem like shooting stars are super hard to come across (?)
I jumped off a tower at night and there was one, just like that

Yes they're much easier to grab than in BotW (thank god). But don't miss them when you see one, you'll be glad you got them at some point haha
