There shouldn't be an issue with themes as I'm suing them with mine, too. YOu have to have a folder on the SD card under apps/usb loader gx/themes/THEME FOLDER
Put the .theme in the apps/usb loader gx/themes/ directory. Should work fine.
Also, there's a lot of old themes that are broken, make sure you try some others too.
