Gaming weird update error after lt+ flash for every game

i had updated my 360 to the new dash via microsoft usb version 12611. the next day realized i screwed up and there was a way to update w/out having to flash lt+. so i shipped out to a buddy and he flashed lt+, but he is saying that every time he puts in a kinect game it says error update needed to play this game , he exits out and see game logo on dash and it plays,but any and all games (old ones included) say error update needed to play this game. he says he has tried 3 games and they all work but doesnt want to send back til he can fix this , but christmas is a week away. any clues as to why this is happening thanks
