Where to start? This is complicated. My Wii nunchucks (both of them) exhibit a weird flaw and I'm not sure if there's something wrong with my units or it's just the way nunchucks "work". So, after you read all this please reply and tell me if your nunchucks ever did (or didn't) something similar.

The defect is this: the nunchuck freezes. If a direction was being pushed when the defect showed up, the character will keep walking in that direction by itself, while if the stick was neutral the character will simply stay still and won't move anymore.

How do I solve it? Unplug and plug the nunchuck back to the wiimote, although it could very well do it again (and again and again...) just a second after you plugged it back, so my method is actually this: unplug a nunchuck and plug the other one (I have two, identical and bought at the same time), this seems to mitigate the problem a bit.

As to what could trigger the malfunctioning; this is the weird(est) part. I had already noticed the defect a while ago, however, I've played Skyward Sword all this winter, some days even quite extensively, and not a single time the defect showed up. A couple of days ago, just a minute after I started playing, the nunckuck got stuck multiple times in a row (until I connected the other one). I cannot think of any different condition other than the temperature, in fact in the last couple of days the weather got noticeably warmer.

I also noticed that strongly wiggling the wimote multiple times in a row (such as when you are leaping up on vines and ladders or leaping horizontally across ledges) seem to trigger it the most.

I don't know what's causing this behaviour but I know what what isn't:

Low rechargeable batteries: a couple of weeks ago I played a few days in a row with the batteries almost fully discharged and the flaw never showed up.

The wiimote: the nunchucks do the same exact thing even when connected directly to a PC

The console (a WiiU): see above.

My theory is that they're just defective.

Hello.:)

I had similar Behavior(s) with Nunchuks where the Cable was wrapped around it.
On USBLoader GX the Wii Motion Controller is no longer Responding correctly,it only moves horizontal.
Also In Games.I think it is not a good Idea to wrap the Cable around, even for longer Times.:(

Hello ^_^
I knew this, so I never wrapped the cable around, however, my nunckucks were like that since new.

After searching around I came across a post in which they had the same problem: OP said the reason was nunchuck connector's bent pins, I need to check on this.
BTW, if this is the reason it would be consistent with the problem showing up at springtime, the metal contacts will bend easily when they're warm.
