Hacking WARNING - Gateway team bricks card ON PURPOSE!

All I ever wanted was the ability to play any region of games on my 3DS, and all I still have is Gateway.
It's ridiculous.

To be fair, that Normatt guy is to blame here for implementing a code by barely patching GW's work instead of doing a better job creating his own code like other users here have started to do after the proper tools were released.

Probably the user who posted the news about the modified launcher should have stated that it was a beta release and that users should proceed with caution and avoid the modified launcher if they didn't want to experience unexpected issues.

Now the hacker comes here saying that there was checkers in the code that intentionally bricks the console, but days after his patch was released.

That's very irresponsible and I guess that's the first reason other hackers don't release their work after doing proper testing.

Document what you say in a table - actual confirmed users - maybe with serial numbers and photograph of bricked device

There's no legal action possible since GW is located in China. Why do you think Apple can't sue the millions of iPad/iPhone clones in China?

Nintendo is a legit company which follows laws and shit, gateway is an underground company they can what they want.

Isn't it also illegal to be playing roms of games you don't own?

That should be a nice lawsuit. Users with bricked consoles after playing illegal copies of games.

Ok, im really unsure of what to do right now. I have had my gateway updated to 2.02b ever since it came out. I never used a different launcher .dat on gateway. I only use the ones that are on the official website. I also never get involved with any patches. I havent fired up my 3ds in a while and im not sure what i should do or if im at risk. Are you guys saying i dont play the gateway card for the time being? In addition, the team said they will release the new firmware in the early days of january instead of newyears day, but it has been 2 weeks and nothing came up. What the hell is going on, this news seems almost unbelievable...

I read over at the official gw forums on maxconsole that supposedly gateway can supposedly identify between altered launchers to due competition and sd corruption; if true, for the most part I think gateway users should be safe. It's somewhat believable since it came from Mathieulh, a known developer. Haven't heard much reports of official gateway users bricking either.

and just to be clear - Normmatt's modified launcer (for region free) obviously missed something crucial that the Gateway team will do correctly in good time

I'm not a member of Gateway, I have no idea who they are, I posted in the first few pages my disgust at them, but once I realised what a cheap scam was going on to discredit them I had to speak up - I'm amazed some of their own team don't come on here and calm thimngs down. There you go. It was kind of fun to call out a group of german teenage/novice spammers/hackers - bored now

Seriously. When you're not only too cheap to buy games, but also too cheap to buy a clone of a proper flashcart then you deserve it.
